Pokémon Legends Z-A Isn’t A Nintendo Switch 2 Game, It’s Claimed

According to Jeff Grubb in his recent “Last of the Nintendogs” podcast, Pokémon Legends Z-A was not specifically designed to capitalize on the enhanced hardware capabilities of the rumored Nintendo Switch 2.

According to Grubb, it’s expected that when the upcoming Pokémon Presents event occurs (possibly on Pokemon Day), all the games displayed there will be designed for the existing Nintendo Switch console.

In simpler terms, Grubb mentioned that the upcoming Pokémon Direct presentation is likely to label these games as “games for Switch version 1.” He added that while they’ll run on Switch version 2, there won’t be any features specifically designed for the newer model. This aligns with The Pokémon Company’s usual approach.

It appeared as though Mike Minotti was taken aback, suggesting the expectation that “among all the games potentially receiving an upgrade for the Switch 2”, it would likely be the next installment of Pokemon that would receive this enhancement.

Last year’s Pokémon Presents on Pokémon Day unveiled Pokémon Z-A as the sequel to 2022’s Pokémon Legends: Arceus. This upcoming game presents a new storyline centered around Lumiose City, where renovation plans are being implemented to create a city that harmoniously coexists with humans and Pokémon.

During the upcoming Pokémon Presents event in February, we can anticipate further details about the game, including a possible release date reveal. Additionally, updates regarding future developments of Pokémon Go will be shared, along with the usual unexpected treats typically unveiled during these events.
