Pokemon Legends: Z-A is the newest major Pokemon game from Game Freak. It’s quite different from the traditional turn-based Pokemon games like Scarlet and Violet, so players are likely wondering how long it will take to finish. While it doesn’t have the usual gym leaders or Elite Four, there’s still plenty to do and explore.

I finished Pokemon Legends: Z-A in around 20 hours during my first playthrough. I didn’t complete every area or side quest, and I sped through the dialogue as much as possible. I also avoided extra grinding because I wanted to experience the whole game quickly to prepare guide content.
I’ve been playing, and honestly, if you’re like me and like to really explore and put some time in, you’re probably looking at around 25 to 30 hours to finish the main story. There are 38 story missions, and it takes a while to get through them all if you don’t just rush!
After you finish the main story, there are still things to do! You can search for the three Legendary Pokémon from the Kalos region. Plus, you can test your skills in the Infinite Z-A Royale, where you’ll battle strong trainers to earn extra rewards. Don’t forget to collect Colorful Screws scattered throughout the world – they let you unlock and improve Canari plushies, which can help you both in and outside of battles.
Plus, you can spend a lot of extra time catching all the Pokémon in the Kalos region and finishing over 100 side quests. While some quests are quick, completing them all will take a significant amount of time.
As a huge Pokémon fan, if you’re the type who wants to complete everything after beating the main story, you’re easily looking at 40 to 50 hours of gameplay. And get this – they’re releasing a paid expansion for Pokémon Legends: Z-A called Mega Dimension next year! It’s promising new Mega Evolutions and a whole new story, which will probably add another 10 to 15 hours to the game. It’s awesome!
