Pokemon Legends: Z-A Player Completes Impossible Shiny Hunt

A player of Pokemon Legends: Z-A successfully hunted for a shiny Pokemon in Wild Zone 20, an area that was later removed from the game with the Mega Dimension DLC in December 2025. From the start, Pokemon Legends: Z-A was popular with shiny hunters because the game made it easy to reset Pokemon spawns by resting at benches or going in and out of buildings, like the one in Wild Zone 4 or Professor Mable’s lab near Wild Zone 1.

Players quickly discovered methods to hunt for shiny Pokémon for almost every creature in the game, with a few exceptions like Mewtwo, Diancie, and the three Legendary Pokémon from Generation 6. One particularly impressive early technique was the “spawn overload glitch.” This allowed players to move a Pokémon, save the game, and then bring it back to its original location, where a new Pokémon would have spawned in the meantime. In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, this meant players could hunt for multiple Alpha Pokémon simultaneously in Wild Zone 20. However, this glitch was fixed in Version 2.0 of the game, which was released alongside the DLC on December 10, 2025.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Player Finds Six Alpha Shiny Pokemon in Wild Zone 20 After Glitch Removal

A Reddit user named Duelingk posted a screenshot from Pokemon Legends: Z-A showing six rare, shiny Alpha Pokemon all gathered in the same spot – Wild Zone 20, right under the tower. This location was previously known as a glitch spot where players could easily find multiple shiny Alpha Pokemon. However, the latest Mega Dimension DLC update fixed this glitch. If players had already exploited the glitch before the update, they could still find shiny Alphas there, but they can no longer repeat the process to find more.

The Pokemon Company didn’t announce or approve this shiny hunting technique, leaving many players unable to access the large number of Pokemon spawning in Wild Zone 20, or only able to find a limited few. It took Duelingk several weeks to complete this hunt, with Noivern being the last of six shiny Pokemon found. The hunt was also unusual because, in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, players couldn’t control which Pokemon would appear when resetting the encounter, meaning any of the roughly 70 Pokemon at the base of the tower in Wild Zone 20 could potentially be shiny.

The DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A introduced new ways to hunt for shiny Pokemon using Asha’s Donuts. These donuts worked similarly to the shiny sandwiches in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but with a twist: their effectiveness was random and depended on scores in different flavor categories. This randomness could be frustrating, as players often found themselves repeatedly farming for rare Hyperspace Berries or constantly reloading saves to try and get the desired donut results.

Compared to that, the shiny sandwich system in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet was more reliable. You just needed to collect Herba Mystica and then follow recipes to get the shinies you wanted. So, when the game Pokemon Z-A removed a glitch that let players easily find shinies, fans were disappointed. It’s good to hear that players like Duelingk can still use that glitch, though.
