Starting April 1st, players will be able to move their Pokémon from Pokémon Legends: Z-A into Pokémon HOME. This update comes about six months after the game’s release on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
Nintendo is now delivering on its promise to add Pokémon Home support to Pokémon Legends: Z-A this year, which fans have been waiting for. This update will allow players to move their Pokémon between Pokémon Legends: Z-A and other Pokémon games.
Pokemon Home and Pokemon Legends: Z-A Will Finally Work Together
Pokemon Home is getting an update on April 1st at 5pm Pacific Time / 8pm Eastern Time, bringing it to version 4.0. This update will allow the service to work with Pokemon Legends: Z-A. There will be a short period of maintenance during the update, so it’s best to finish any ongoing Pokemon transfers beforehand. If your Nintendo Switch doesn’t update automatically, you can manually check for updates by going to the Pokemon Home icon and pressing the (+) or (-) button on your controller. Select ‘Software Update’ then ‘Via the Internet’ to download and install the new version. While fans are excited about this update, it’s important to note that there will be some limitations on how Pokemon Home functions with Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

Okay, so here’s the deal with transferring Pokémon to and from Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Once a Pokémon goes from Legends: Z-A to Pokémon Home, you can’t send it back to any of the older games, even if that Pokémon normally lives in those games. And, if you send a Pokémon to Legends: Z-A from an older game through Home, it’s a one-way trip – you won’t be able to send it back to those older games later. Basically, you can only transfer Pokémon into Legends: Z-A that are actually in the game. They’ll have a full list of which Pokémon work at launch, so we’ll know exactly what we can move around.
Although players have some suggestions for improving Pokémon Home and how Pokémon are transferred between games, the service is generally well-received by fans. Transferring Pokémon to Pokémon Home provides a secure backup, protecting them even if the original game data is lost or damaged. With so many Pokémon games released over the years, the ability to easily move Pokémon between them is a major benefit. This service will soon be available for Pokémon Champions as well.
