With the first ranked battle season for Pokemon Legends: Z-A finished, players will soon be able to get Delphoxite, which is needed to Mega Evolve Delphox in Season 2. Pokemon Legends: Z-A will release a Mega Stone for each Kalos starter Pokemon over the first three seasons. If you didn’t earn Mega Greninja in Season 1, don’t worry! The developers are listening to player feedback about how these Mega Evolutions are earned and are already making improvements, with Season 2 offering an exciting change.
A major point of discussion before the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A was how the new Mega Evolutions for the Kalos starters were tied to the game’s online ranked battles in the Z-A Battle Club. Although it was relatively easy to unlock Mega Greninja in the first season – players just needed to reach rank K and maintain it without losing rank after a loss – some players worried that the item needed for the evolution, Greninjite, would only be available for a limited time.
Players who want to join the Z-A Battle Club and get the Mega Stones for the Kalos starters will still need a Nintendo Switch Online membership, which is one of the reasons this has caused some upset.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Players Can Still Earn Mega Greninja After Season 1 Ends
Okay, so good news for anyone who didn’t quite hit rank K last season in the Z-A Battle Club! We’re getting another chance to earn Greninjite in Season 2. The Pokemon Company just announced that it’s coming back as a ranked reward, and even better, it’s going to be way easier to get this time around. Basically, if you jump into the online ranked battles in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you’ll probably be able to unlock Mega Delphox and snag some Greninjite for yourself. They’re making it much more accessible, which is awesome!
Mega Greninja Will Be Essentially Free in Season 2 of Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Online Ranked Battles
- Rank Y — Mega Greninja
- Rank S — Mega Delphox
Once Season 2 of Pokémon Legends: Z-A begins on November 6th, players who reach the Y rank will automatically receive a Greninjite. Because players begin at rank Z in online battles, getting to the Y rank—and unlocking Mega Greninja—requires minimal effort. You don’t even need to win battles to climb the ranks; simply playing matches and completing basic objectives like collecting items or defeating opponents should be enough to reach Rank Y and earn a Greninjite.
Getting Mega Delphox in Pokemon Legends: Z-A Season 2 will be much simpler than before. The rank needed to unlock the Mega Stone has been lowered significantly, from rank K to rank S. Even players who only participate in a few of the game’s free online battles should be able to earn both available Mega Stones this season.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Kalos Starter Mega Stone Distribution is a Good Sign for the Future
The return of Greninjite as a ranked battle reward in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is a positive indication of what’s to come for rewards. This is especially true with the potential for Mega Stones from the Hoenn starters to be offered as online ranked rewards after the Mega Dimension DLC is released. If this pattern continues, we can expect to see Delphoxite available at a similar rank in Season 3. The fact that Mega Delphox is obtainable at a lower rank this season, and Mega Greninja will remain available after its initial release, suggests the developers are listening to player feedback and making adjustments each season – hopefully, this continues in the future.
