A recent survey of players in Japan who play Pokemon Legends: Z-A revealed the 25 most popular Pokemon in the game, with Charizard taking first place. The poll showed that legendary Pokemon and fully evolved forms were the most favored, meaning the iconic Pikachu didn’t make the top 25.
In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, players can encounter Pokemon originally from Pokemon X and Y, like the first three starter Pokemon: Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie. The Mega Dimension DLC adds even more Pokemon to the mix, including different regional forms of Pokemon like Meowth, Slowpoke, and Mr. Mime. With a total of 364 catchable Pokemon in the game and its DLC, choosing a team can be tough. However, many players have already discovered which Pokemon they like best.

A recent poll on the gaming site GameWith asked Japanese players to pick their favorite Pokémon from the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A. After three days and over 18,000 votes, Charizard came out on top! It’s been a fan favorite since the very first Pokémon Red and Blue, and in this poll, it received 632 votes – a significant 41 votes ahead of Lucario, who came in second with 591. Greninja, Chandelure, and Absol completed the top five, with Greninja just four votes behind Lucario. Players were asked to consider their overall favorite Pokémon, those that were most helpful in the game, and those that made the biggest impression.
Several popular Pokémon ranked high in a recent fan vote. Sylveon, Umbreon, and Glaceon, all Eeveelutions, came in 14th, 16th, and 17th place, respectively. Meganium, the most favored starter Pokémon from Pokémon Legends: Z-A, earned the 19th spot with 217 votes. While Pikachu didn’t make the top 25, its evolved form, Raichu, landed at number 22 with 201 votes. Feraligatr finished 23rd (190 votes), and Mimikyu rounded out the top 25 with 176 votes. Excadrill nearly made the cut, missing the 25th spot by only 12 votes.
While Pokemon Legends: Z-A features many Legendary Pokemon, Zygarde was the highest-ranked in a recent poll, landing in ninth place with 396 votes. Zeraora, a special Mythical Pokemon enhanced by the Mega Dimension DLC, came in 11th. Diancie and Rayquaza were the last two Legendary Pokemon to make the top 25, finishing 18th and 20th respectively. Further down the list, Yveltal secured 32nd place with 138 votes, while Xerneas finished in 89th with only 58 votes.

Another poll was taken, this time in Japan, to rank the top 20 Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Mega Charizard X won by a significant margin with 296 votes, finishing 40 votes ahead of Mega Starmie. The poll also included newer Mega Evolutions introduced in the Mega Dimension expansion, like Mega Lucario Z and Mega Absol Z. Mega Absol Z came in fourth place with 235 votes, and Mega Lucario Z ranked 11th with 138 votes.
Okay, so Charizard totally crushed it in both the regular and Mega Evolution popularity contests, which just proves how much everyone loves that fiery beast! Seriously, it’s a fan favorite across all things Pokemon. With the next generation of Pokemon games probably coming soon, I’m really curious to see if Charizard will still be everyone’s go-to Pokemon, or if a new one will finally step up and take its place at the top.
