The game Pokemon Legends: Z-A has announced that Mega Hawlucha will be added to its roster, making this the first time the Fighting/Flying-type wrestling bird gets a Mega Evolution. This game mechanic was initially introduced in Pokemon X and Y, and with Pokemon Legends: Z-A returning to the Kalos region this October, there’s been an exciting series of new Mega Evolution reveals.
Z-A, with the introduction of Mega Hawlucha being one of several new forms unveiled before the game’s release date.
Mega Hawlucha Joins the Pokemon Legends: Z-A Roster
In a fresh four-minute animation posted on Pokemon’s Twitter, Hawlucha and Machamp, both Fighting-type Pokémon, engage in a wrestling match within a ring. Their trainers offer directions from the sidelines. At first, Machamp gains the upper hand, but Hawlucha, with its type advantage, eventually turns the tables. After a series of scenes showing their bond with their trainer, Hawlucha’s trainer dons a Mega Bracelet, unveiling Mega Hawlucha’s transformed form. Decked out in a plumed, gold and black luchador mask, and adorned with a matching shoulder piece, Mega Hawlucha manages to counter Machamp’s chop without flinching before defeating it with the signature Flying Press move.
The unveiling of Mega Hawlucha sparked enthusiasm among Pokémon fans, yet it wasn’t entirely surprising. Earlier in the week, Pokémon teased the announcement of a Mega Evolution on Twitter, featuring an animated fight poster showcasing a forthcoming battle between Hawlucha and Machamp. Although many anticipated the poster to suggest a new Mega Evolution was imminent, it remained uncertain if both Hawlucha or Machamp would undergo this transformation, as Mega Machamp has yet to appear in any Pokémon games.

Z-A on October 16 for Nintendo Switch and its successor, there’s still plenty to look forward to!
