Pokémon Legends: Z-A, like other Pokémon games, includes Shiny Pokémon – incredibly rare versions with different colors. If you’re concerned that the game’s automatic saving might cause you to miss a Shiny encounter, you don’t need to worry! You can use the Sleep Power feature to help ensure you don’t accidentally skip over them.
Shiny Pokémon are what many players consider the ultimate find. While Legendary Pokémon are exciting, discovering a Shiny feels incredibly rare and special—like opening a Pokémon card pack and getting a Charizard! Traditionally, Shiny Pokémon would vanish if you didn’t reach them quickly in games, but that’s no longer true in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Shinies Don’t Despawn In Pokémon Legends: Z-A
In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you can take as long as you need to catch a Shiny Pokémon you encounter, as long as you don’t exceed the game’s Shiny Pokémon catch limit.
Austin John Plays on YouTube clearly explains how Shiny Pokémon work in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Even though the game saves automatically, a Shiny Pokémon will stay visible once it appears – it won’t disappear until you battle or attempt to catch it.
Austin John Plays points out that the game will remember up to ten Shiny Pokémon you’ve encountered. This gives you plenty of opportunity to catch or find them.
Other players of Pokémon Legends: Z-A have confirmed these mechanics work as expected. One player shared on a subreddit how they found a Shiny Magikarp, left the area, adjusted the in-game time, and returned to find the Shiny Magikarp still there.
Despite trying various other things that took time or involved travel, the Shiny Magikarp still wouldn’t move.
