Pokemon Legends: Z-A Will Make It Easier to Get Ranked Battle Rewards

Players competing in Ranked Battles in Pokemon Legends: Z-A will find Season 2 more accessible, as Mega Delphox will be easier to get. Plus, Mega Greninja is returning as a reward during Season 2, giving trainers the chance to earn both Mega Stones in November.

At first, unlocking Mega Greninja and Mega Delphox in Pokemon Legends: Z-A required players to compete in Ranked Battles – a three-minute, free-for-all match with up to four players. While some players were initially unhappy with this system for obtaining Mega Stones, concerns were eased when they discovered how quickly points could be earned and ranks climbed. Plus, Pokemon Legends: Z-A doesn’t punish players by lowering their rank, making the process less stressful.

Good news for Pokémon Legends: Z-A trainers who didn’t get everything they wanted in the first Ranked Battle season! The next season will have some changes to make things a bit easier. You’ll now need to reach Rank S, instead of Rank K, to get the item needed to Mega Evolve Delphox. Plus, if you missed the Greninjite Mega Stone in Season 1, you’ll have another chance to earn it as the reward for Rank Y in Season 2. Season 2’s Ranked Battles run from November 5th to 25th, starting and ending at 10:00 PM Pacific time. The game will also prevent your rank points from going down, and will adjust point values and rewards to match the change.

In addition to changes to Ranked Battle rewards, Pokemon Legends: Z-A will receive an update in November to fix a couple of issues that can freeze the game. Specifically, during certain side missions, the game can get stuck if a Pokemon is hit by an attack at the exact moment the day turns to night (or vice versa). This glitch could prevent a Pokemon from receiving damage, blocking progress. The update will also resolve a softlock related to Rogue Mega Pokemon and how the game manages your Pokemon storage.

Sales for Pokemon Legends: Z-A are off to a strong start, proving the franchise continues to be popular. It’s still uncertain whether the game will receive updates to fix any remaining problems.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Ranked Battle Changes And Known Issues (October 30, 2025)

Ranked Battles: Balance Adjustments and Ease of Conditions for Earning Mega Stones as Rewards

We’re making Ranked Battles more fun by making it easier to get Mega Stones and by adjusting the game’s balance. Check the details below to see what’s changing.

Content Adjustments for Season 2

The promotion rewards that grant Mega Stones will be set as follows.

Ranked Battles Season 1

  • Rank K promotion reward: Greninjite

Ranked Battles Season 2

  • Rank S promotion reward: Delphoxite*
  • Rank Y promotion reward: Greninjite**

Okay, so good news for anyone trying to get that Mega Stone! Remember how you used to have to hit Rank K in Season 1 to earn it? Well, they’ve lowered the requirement to Rank S now. That means it’s way easier to get – eight ranks easier, actually! I’m pretty stoked about this change, honestly.

As a big Pokémon fan, I’m really excited to hear that the Greninite stone is coming back! They’re bringing it back as a reward for reaching Rank Y in Season 2 – which is just one rank above Z, so it’s a little more challenging to get. And the best part? It sounds like they’re planning on bringing back other Mega Stones pretty often in future seasons too, which is awesome!

Planned Adjustments for Upcoming Updates

  • To prevent points from decreasing based on match outcomes, we will adjust the points awarded according to ranking.
  • We will partially increase and add to the battle rewards received after each match.

Current Known Issues and Planned Fixes

We have confirmed the following issues and plan to fix them in a future update.

  • If your Pokémon Boxes become full before the first Rogue Mega Evolution battle and the Boxes menu had not been opened at any point prior to being filled, Pokémon catch attempts will always fail. Additionally, if a side mission that allows you to receive Pokémon is attempted under these conditions, the mission will be completed without granting the Pokémon.
  • In certain side missions, if the time of day switches between daytime and nighttime at the exact moment that a move hits its target, it will become impossible to hit the target afterward, rendering the side mission incapable of being progressed further.

These issues are scheduled to be fixed in the update planned for release in November.
