Even though Pokémon Legends: Z-A has already added 26 Mega Evolutions to the game, the upcoming Mega Dimension DLC will introduce even more. New Mega forms for Raichu, Chimecho, Baxcalibur, and Zeraora have been announced, and rumors suggest even more are on the way. However, one of the leaked Mega Evolutions seems like it would have been more appropriate if it had been released with the original game three years ago.
So, the DLC is bringing back Mega Evolutions, which is awesome! But it looks like some dataminers have dug up info on even more possible Mega Evolutions than what’s been officially announced. Here’s what they’ve found so far:
- Absol (second form)
- Staraptor
- Garchomp (second form)
- Lucario (second form)
- Heatran
- Darkrai
- Golurk
- Meowstic
- Crabominable
- Golisopod
- Magearna
- Scovillain
- Glimmora
- Tatsugiri
It’s exciting to see Pokémon from the latest generation (Gen 9) included in these leaked Mega Evolutions. Baxcalibur was the first Pokémon from the Paldea region to get a Mega form, and Scovillain, Glimmora, and Tatsugiri are all welcome additions. However, Glimmora especially could have used a stronger form in the Scarlet and Violet games.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Leaked Mega Glimmora Would Have Been Better in Scarlet and Violet
While Mega Evolution isn’t available in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it’s a shame Glimmora didn’t have a Mega Form earlier in the game. This Rock/Poison type Pokémon isn’t particularly well-known in the Paldea region, and its stats aren’t outstanding. It does have unique features – the ability Toxic Debris, which spreads Toxic Spikes when hit, and the move Mortal Spin, which gets rid of troublesome effects like Leech Seed and entry hazards – but it never quite became a top competitor in battles.
Glimmora is an Underwhelming Battler, But Has Interesting Lore
Glimmora, despite being a weak fighter, could have been a really important Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet. It’s found deep within Area Zero, the place where the Terastal Phenomenon comes from, and its design—resembling Tera Jewels—strongly suggests a connection to this power. Even the materials used to teach the move Tera Blast come from Glimmora. It’s a missed opportunity that the game doesn’t explore this connection more fully, considering Glimmora’s potential importance to the story.
In the Teal Mask DLC, Glimmora appears near the Crystal Pool in Kitakami, an area known for its Terastal Crystals, strengthening the link between the two.
Mega Glimmora Could Have Made Scarlet and Violet’s Battle Against Geeta More Intense
Although a new Mega Evolution for Glimmora in the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A DLC might showcase its full potential, it won’t change many players’ initial impressions of the Pokémon. Glimmora is most remembered for being the final Pokémon used by Champion Geeta, and unfortunately, it feels like a disappointing climax to an already easy battle. Instead of a powerful Pseudo-Legendary like Metagross or Dragonite, Geeta’s Glimmora makes for an underwhelming final opponent.
Glimmora would have been a significantly tougher opponent in the battle against Geeta if it could have Mega Evolved. While it makes sense that Mega Evolution wasn’t in Scarlet and Violet since it didn’t reappear until Legends: Z-A, even a single Mega Evolution with Geeta’s Glimmora would have made the fight more exciting. It also could have subtly foreshadowed the return of Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which happened three years later.
During her battle against the Champion, Geeta uses Terastallization on her Glimmora, but it isn’t as powerful as it would be if the Pokémon could Mega Evolve instead.
