After about two weeks since its release, Pokemon Legends: Z-A is receiving very mixed reactions from players. While some are enjoying the new gameplay, others strongly dislike it, leading to a lot of negative reviews. A major point of contention is that some of the most exciting new Mega Evolutions, like Mega Delphox which is coming soon, aren’t immediately available. Players need both a Nintendo Switch Online subscription and to participate in limited-time, three-week ranked seasons to unlock them.

Players could earn Mega Greninja and its Mega Stone, Greninjite, by achieving high ranks in Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s ranked battles – specifically, by reaching Rank K from Rank Z. This reward is available until the end of Season 1 on November 4th at 9:59 PM PST. With upcoming changes to ranked rewards, Mega Delphox and its Mega Stone, Delphoxite, will be significantly easier to obtain, and there’s an added benefit:
- Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s Ranked Season 2 begins November 5, and it introduces Delphoxite and Mega Delphox.
- Mega Delphox is obtained by reaching Rank S, which makes it extremely easier than Mega Greninja. Greninjite is obtained in Link Battles after 15 rank-ups, whereas Delphoxite only requires 7.
- Mega Greninja and Greninjite are officially coming back as a reward for hitting Rank Y, meaning only one rank-up is needed.
- Wild Zone 18 has an easy shiny hunting method in Pokemon Legends: Z-A to get a shiny Delphox ahead of Mega Delphox’s release.
Okay, so I just learned you can get Mega Greninja and its Mega Stone, Greninjite, pretty quickly – like, one to three hours of playing online. That’s awesome! It basically means getting Mega Delphox and its Mega Stone, Delphoxite, should take even less time, which is a huge relief. I won’t be grinding for days, thankfully!
How to Get Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Delphoxite and Mega Delphox, and Why It’s Easy
Even though the rewards for ranking up in online battles still favor reaching Rank A before the season ends, it’s now much easier to get the Delphoxite and Greninjite items needed to Mega Evolve Delphox and Greninja. These items were highly requested by fans, and Greninjite is now available quickly. Plus, Mega Greninja is a powerful Pokémon in the ranked battles of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, meaning players can obtain it soon even if they don’t have it at the start of the new season.

It’s also quite achievable to reach Rank S, even without a perfectly built team. Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s ranked battles offer many simple challenges that give you points no matter where you finish. These include:
- X-Pokemon defeater: 10 points for every opposing Pokemon defeated in a battle.
- Dealt first attack: 10 points for attacking an opposing Pokemon before anyone else.
- Dealt last attack: 10 points for being the last to attack an opposing Pokemon.
- First to claim an item: 10 points for being the first to pick up an item.
- First to Mega Evolve: 10 points for Mega Evolving a Pokemon first.
- Flawless survivor: 10 points to players whose Pokemon don’t faint.
- Fresh opponent hunter: 10 points for attacking opposing Pokemon at full health the most.
- Mega Evolution destroyer: 10 points for defeating a Mega Evolved Pokemon.
- Mega-Evolving master: 10 points for using a Mega Evolution to defeat an opposing Pokemon.
- Most active attacker: 10 points for landing the most attacks.
- Plus Move master: 10 points for using Plus Moves to defeat an opposing Pokemon.
- Scatter attacker: 10 points for defeating at least one Pokemon from each opponent.
- Supereffective attacker: 10 points for using supereffective moves at least 5 times.
- Three-in-a-row KO: 10 points for getting three consecutive KOs.
Winning a battle earns you points: 30 for first place, 10 for second, -10 for third, and -30 for fourth. If players tie, they all receive the highest rank possible based on their score.
How to Get Shiny Fennekin in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Okay, so I’ve been trying to get a shiny Fennekin evolved into Delphox before the new season starts, and I figured out a really reliable way to do it! It turns out Fennekin only spawns in one spot in Pokemon Legends: Z-A – specifically, in Wild Zone 18. Even better, it always appears on this one roof, and nothing else will spawn there with it, making it way easier to find!
Every Shiny You Can Find In Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Wild Zone 18

Right before you enter Wild Zone 18, there are two benches. This lets players use a trick from Pokemon Legends: Z-A – quickly resetting the game using the benches – to repeatedly encounter Fennekin until they find a shiny version. You can do this by either pressing the A button near a bench and turning your character toward it after the cutscene, or by using a turbo controller. Because several different Pokémon appear in this area, players can also try to find shiny versions of other creatures.
- Bagon (ground level, two units near the entrance of Wild Zone 18)
- Alpha Salamance (ground level, near the entrance of Wild Zone 18)
- Alpha Lopunny (ground level, near the scaffolding that leads to the roof where Fennekin can be spotted)
- Swablu and Altaria (rooftop right after entering Wild Zone 18, only available during the day)
- Noibat and Noivern (rooftop right after entering Wild Zone 18, only available during the night)
- Fennekin (rooftop, higher than the area dedicated to Swablu and Altaria or Noibat and Noivern, can be seen from outside the entrance of Wild Zone 18)
- Eevee (spawns during the day with clear weather on a roof opposite the entrance of Wild Zone 18)
- Trubbish (ground level, on the right of the scaffolding that leads to the rooftop)
In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, finding shiny Pokemon is easier with the Shiny Charm. Without it, the chances are about 1 in 4096, but the Shiny Charm improves those odds to 1 in 1024, making the hunt much quicker.
