In the “Pokemon Let’s Go” series, there’s a fresh distribution event happening exclusively in certain regions, allowing players to acquire the rare Meltan. These games, which marked the first significant “Pokemon” launches on the Nintendo Switch and offered numerous differences from previous titles, are set in the Kanto region. The “Let’s Go” games introduced a new catching system similar to “Pokemon GO”, featured wild Pokemon freely roaming throughout the game world, and eliminated the traditional HMs (Hidden Machines) found in Kanto. Now, this series is getting a new event that’s taking place in China.

Although it’s been almost six years since the worldwide release of the Pokemon Let’s Go games, Chinese fans have only just started their adventure inspired by Pokemon GO. The long-awaited releases of Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee in China occurred late last month, following the Chinese government’s approval to sell Pokemon games within their borders. Consequently, the Chinese versions are playing catch-up with global versions, aiming to give fans in China all they missed out on. Now, these Chinese fans are receiving a new Mythical Pokemon.

According to GoNintendo, The Pokemon Company has launched a unique distribution campaign for the Pokemon Let’s Go games, specifically in China. This means that, temporarily, fans of both Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee can secure Meltan using a special code, only available with the Chinese versions. To get Meltan, players must possess a Nintendo Switch from the Chinese region, as the code will be valid until April 30, 2025.

The inclusion of Meltan in the Chinese version of “Pokemon Let’s Go” is significant because it has long been one of the most elusive characters within the Pokemon franchise. As of now, Meltan can only be obtained through the mobile game “Pokemon GO,” where fans must complete a series of Special Research tasks to catch it. To transfer Meltan into the mainline games, players first need to move it from “Pokemon GO” to “Pokemon Let’s Go” and then utilize “Pokemon Home” to bring Meltan over to the eighth-generation games. Unfortunately, Meltan is not available in “Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

The release of the “Pokemon Let’s Go” games in China follows a lot of speculation and rumors surrounding these games. Earlier this year, there were whispers that The Pokemon Company might be working on sequels to the “Let’s Go” series set in Johto, but so far, nothing has been confirmed. Interestingly, The Pokemon Company has already revealed their next big game in the franchise, titled “Pokemon Legends: Z-A,” which is a follow-up to 2022’s “Pokemon Legends: Arceus.” Although it seems that no new “Let’s Go” games are planned, it looks like there will be plenty more “Pokemon” for fans to look forward to!
