As a huge Pokémon fan, I was so excited to see Pokémon kick off its 30th anniversary with an amazing ad during Super Bowl 60! It’s perfect timing because we’re all really hoping to hear about the next big Pokémon game soon. The last main game we got was Pokémon Legends: Z-A back in October 2025, and then the Mega Dimension DLC came out a couple of months later in December. It feels like it’s been a while, and I can’t wait to see what they do next!
Pokémon is a globally popular franchise that began as a video game about collecting creatures. It has expanded into many different forms of entertainment, including the incredibly popular Pokémon Trading Card Game, toys, board games, comics, and more. The animated Pokémon series, which started in 1997, has been a huge success with 28 seasons and 24 movies, making characters like Ash and Pikachu well-known around the world. In 2019, Pokémon entered Hollywood with the release of the live-action film Detective Pikachu, inspired by the video game.
Pokemon’s Super Bowl Commercial Begins Its 30th Anniversary With an All-Star Cast
To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Pokémon launched a new commercial during Super Bowl 60. The ad, titled “What’s Your Favorite,” features celebrities sharing their favorite Pokémon. A short preview was previously shared on Twitter, and the full commercial is now available on the official Pokémon YouTube channel.
The new Pokémon ad features a star-studded cast sharing their love for the franchise. Viewers will see K-pop’s Jisoo, Formula One’s Charles Leclerc, and comedian Trevor Noah reveal their favorite Pokémon, with playful animations in the background. In a fun moment, Lady Gaga even sings a duet with Jigglypuff, performing the character’s famous sleep-inducing song from the popular Pokémon anime. The ad also includes appearances by soccer star Lamine Yamal, rapper Young Miko, and actress Maitreyi Ramakrishnan.
For three decades, Pokémon has been a major part of pop culture, and a recent ad highlights just how many people still love it. The franchise is incredibly successful, and even related products like the Pokémon Trading Card Game have become huge hits, especially with collectors. Now, the trading card game is available on mobile devices for the first time with Pokémon TCG Pocket on both iOS and Android. With such a long history of success, Pokémon is sure to stay popular with fans young and old for years to come.
Pokemon Day is coming up on February 27th, and fans are excited to see what’s next for the series! Leaks about the next generation of Pokemon games suggest we’ll see new regions, a new Professor, and different versions of popular Pokemon. There’s even talk that underwater exploration, a feature from older 2D games, might return in 3D for the first time. The rumored game titles are Pokemon Wind and Pokemon Wave. With the Pokemon franchise celebrating its 30th anniversary, official announcements about the new games are expected soon.
