As a seasoned player of Pokémon TCG Pocket, I must say that the current Wonder Pick Event featuring Bulbasaur and Magnemite has truly captured my attention. With my years of experience collecting cards, I can confidently say that this event offers an exciting opportunity to expand one’s collection with these iconic characters.
The Pokemon TCG Pocket has introduced a fresh event, namely the completion of Promo-A cards from the Genetic Apex series. This event, known as the Wonder Pick Event (comprising Parts 1 and 2), brings two new promotional cards into play and provides seven novel accessories. Among these additions are six items themed around Venusaur. To delve deeper into this event, you’re in the perfect place because this guide encompasses all the fundamental details about the December 2024 Wonder Pick Event for Pokemon TCG Pocket.
Wonder Pick Event Part 1 Date & Details
In the Pokemon TCG Pocket, Wonder Pick Events are temporary opportunities to obtain special cards. The first such event started on November 1, 2024, offering Chansey and Meowth Promotional Cards (PA-11 and PA-12). December’s Wonder Pick Event Part 1 is the second installment, unveiling two new Promo-A cards: Bulbasaur and Magnemite (PA-23 and PA-24). This event concludes the collection of promotional cards for Series A before the A1a mini set is launched.
Start and End Dates (Part 1)
The first part of the “Wonder Pick” event featuring Bulbasaur and Magnemite commenced on December 6 and will continue for a fortnight, ending on December 20.

During the first part of the Wonder Pick Event, you’ll find three unique accessories in the Shop. Two of these items are themed around Venusaur and celebrate its full art variant release. To obtain these items, simply go to Shop > Limited Time / Event > Event. The event concludes on December 20, but the new accessories will still be available until December 25, providing you with additional time to decide how to use your Event Tickets.
How to Get Bulbasaur & Magnemite in Wonder Pick Event Part 1
During the event, you have two options to get Promo-A Bulbasaur and Magnemite: either through Bonus Picks or Chansey Picks. These activities can be found within the “Wonder Pick” section of the game.
Bonus Picks
A Bonus Pick is a complimentary chance to get either a Promo-A Bulbasaur or Magnemite (25% probability), but keep in mind that these could be common versions rather than the special Promo-A ones. The rest of the pick consists of Event Tickets and Wonder Pick Hourglasses.
During my trials, I successfully employed a Rewind Watch on my initial Bonus Pick for the occasion, and the second card I pulled turned out to be a Promo-A Bulbasaur, whereas the first was its regular counterpart. Since then, I’ve been unable to recreate this outcome, leading me to believe it might have been an error or a bug in the system.
Chansey Picks
A Chansey Pick is essentially an enhanced Wonder Pick where you’re certain to get Promo-A cards from either Bulbasaur or Magnemite. Each pick requires two Wonder Stamina and offers a range of chances, from 25% to 80%, for receiving either the Bulbasaur PA-23 or Magnemite PA-24 card. The distribution of these cards in each pick can differ – you might receive four Magnemites with one Bulbasaur, or vice versa – but what’s guaranteed is that both cards will be included in the pick.
Even though Promo-A cards typically cost only one Diamond, Chansey’s Pick costs two Wonder Stamina since Promo-A cards such as Bulbasaur and Magnemite are special Holographic versions of the regular cards.
Frequency of Chansey and Bonus Picks Appearance
It’s been speculated that the options for the Bonus and Chansey Picks in the Wonder Pick Event Part 1 could refresh with each public update, which typically happens about every half hour to an hour. Each fresh selection is rumored to have approximately a 20% chance of being a Bonus Pick and a 2.5% chance of being a Chansey Pick.
Wonder Pick Event Part 2 Date & Details
Much like the second phase of the Meowth and Chansey’s Wonder Pick Event, the upcoming segment for Bulbasaur and Magnemite will also continue, beginning halfway through. This next stage will present fresh mission tasks and enrich the Event Shop with additional thematic items.
Start and End Dates (Part 2)
Starting a week from now, on December 13, I’ll dive back into the game for the second phase of the Bulbasaur and Magnemite Event! It’ll keep running until December 20, giving me plenty of time to catch ’em all!
Rewards (Part 2)
In the Event Shop, you’ll be able to obtain the Venusaur-themed items such as the icon, coin, playmat, and card sleeve as the main prizes for participating in Wonder Pick Event Part 2.
Tips for Making the Most of the Wonder Pick Event
To maximize your gains from Pocket TCG Pocket’s new event, keep these tips in mind:
- Don’t waste Wonder Stamina on Chansey Picks. Bonus Picks are free and provide enough chances to pull both new Promo-A cards and earn Event Tickets for the exclusive accessories. Save your Wonder Stamina for the final days of the event, especially if you haven’t been lucky with the cards.
- Hold onto your Event Tickets. Wait for Part 2 of the event to start before spending them. The second part will introduce four new items, costing a total of 21 Event Tickets. Since the first half requires nine, you’ll need 31 Tickets to unlock all Venusaur-themed accessories.
- Check Wonder Picks every hour. It’s worth returning to the game regularly to see if Bonus or Chansey Picks are available.
