As a seasoned player with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Mew ex is undeniably shaking things up in the world of Pokémon Pocket. This versatile little guy brings an exciting new dimension to competitive play, and if you’re not ready for it, you better start practicing those mirror exercises!
Following the introduction of Mew ex in Pokemon Pocket, the game’s metagame is currently intriguing. On one hand, Pikachu and Mewtwo are ruling the roost in player versus player matches. On the flip side, Mew ex has the capability to alter the overall strategy, but it also harmonizes with the rising Mewtwo ex decks. Essentially, Mew ex influences the metagame by enhancing one top-tier archetype while offering a check against it. Yet, we’ll have to watch and wait for a while to fully understand its impact since Mew ex is still a fresh card in the game.
If you’re interested in incorporating the freshly launched Mew from Pokemon Pocket into your card decks, here’s a recommended setup. After examining various configurations, we found that a team composed of Mewtwo and Gardevoir works exceptionally well with Mew ex.
Mew ex Card Overview
- HP: 130
- ATK: 20 (minimum damage). Max damage depends on the enemy’s Active Pokemon.
- Base Move: Psyshot. 20 Damage for one Psychic-Type Energy.
- Secondary Move: Genome Hacking. Choose one of your opponent’s Active Pokemon’s attacks and use it as this attack.
- Weakness: Dark-Type
Mew EX is a fundamental Pokémon boasting 130 HP, equipped with the skill to mimic an adversary’s Active Pokémon’s attack. This distinctive talent positions Mew EX as one of the most potent countermeasures and strategic cards in the game, often eliminating key figures like Mewtwo EX in a single blow.
What sets Mew ex apart even further is its unique ability, Genome Hacking, which functions across all Energy types. As a result, Mew ex is not confined to Psychic-Type decks alone, making it a flexible and adaptable choice for multiple strategies.
In the game of Pokemon Pocket, Mew ex works particularly well when paired with Budding Expeditioner, a fresh Supporter card. Similar to how Koga supports his team, Budding Expeditioner pulls Mew ex from the Active Spot and restores it, offering a complimentary Retreat at no cost. This duo sets up an effective defense that’s hard to overcome, especially when the player addresses Energy issues using cards such as Misty or Gardevoir.
The Best Deck for Mew ex
In the present Pokemon Pocket metagame, Mew excels in a fine-tuned deck featuring both Mewtwo ex and Gardevoir, along with their evolutionary chain. This synergy is enhanced by incorporating two novel cards, Mythical Slab and Budding Expeditioners, from the Mythical Island mini-set into your Trainer Cards. Here’s the full deck breakdown: [Deck List]

---|---|
Mew ex | 2 |

Gardevoir | 2 |
Mewtwo ex | 2 |
Budding Expeditioner | 1 |

Mew ex Deck Synergies
- Mew ex can tank damage and take out the enemy’s ex Pokemon.
- Budding Expeditioner helps Retreat Mew ex when Mewtwo ex is built up.
- Mythical Slab boosts Evolution consistency by drawing Psychic-Type cards.
- Gardevoir provides Energy, helping you build up Mew ex or Mewtwo ex faster. (Ralts and Kirlia form her Evolution lineup.)
- Mewtwo ex is your primary DPS. Build it up on the bench and start attacking once it’s ready.
How to Play Mew ex Effectively
Here are some notes:
1. Prioritize flexibility while playing Mew ex.
Make sure to frequently swap out Mew EX when needed. In case it’s deployed early, it can shield damage while you strengthen your primary damage-dealing unit. However, this stage is crucial; if you don’t pull the necessary cards, you might need to resort to using Mew EX for damage instead of just keeping it as a placeholder. Keep your strategy adaptable and responsive.
2. Don’t fall for the enemy’s conditional attacks.
To effectively replicate an enemy’s Pokemon attack using Mew ex, ensure that the conditions specified in the attack are fulfilled prior to copying it. For example, if Pikachu ex’s attack adds “+30 damage for each of your Benched Lightning-Type Pokemon”, you must have Lightning-Type Pokemon on your Bench for the move to work when copied with Mew ex.
3. Use Mew ex as a tanky tech card rather than a DPS.
Opting for a strategy centered on Mew ex’s damage output may not yield consistent success. Instead, consider utilizing Mew ex as a versatile, sturdy card that can tackle high-damage enemy cards in critical moments. On some occasions, simply deploying it to absorb damage with its 130 HP might be sufficient.
How to Counter Mew ex
Currently, using Pokemon with conditional moves is the most effective strategy to combat Mew ex’s ability. To illustrate this, consider Pikachu ex. Pikachu ex’s move, Circle Circuit, delivers substantial damage if you have Electric Pokemon on your field. However, since most Mew ex decks consist of Psychic-Type Pokemon rather than Electric, duplicating the move with Mew ex will be ineffective.
A different tactic when facing Mew EX involves using a durable Pokémon card with minimal attacking power in the active position. This is because Mew EX can only mimic the attacks of the opponent’s Active Pokémon. By having a non-threatening Pokémon in this spot, you prevent Mew EX from copying any effective moves.
From a passionate Pokémon trainer’s perspective, Nidoqueen isn’t exactly a boon for Mew two-step. However, it truly shines when you’ve got a whole squad of Nidoking by your side on the battlefield!
Mew ex Deck Review
Mew EX is gradually leaving an impression on the strategic landscape of Pokemon Pocket, and it’s likely that you’ll encounter more competitive decks constructed around its mirror theme. Constructing a deck primarily focused on Mew EX might not be the best strategy, but incorporating it into pre-existing Psychic-Type decks can significantly enhance their power.
Is it worth giving Mew EX a try? Definitely! If you’re aiming to compete in Pokemon Pocket, having Mew EX on hand or being ready for it is essential.
