Pokemon Red Rescue Team: How To Evolve

Pokemon Red Rescue Team: How To Evolve

As a seasoned adventurer who’s traversed countless dungeons in the mystical world of Pokémon, I must say, the Red Rescue Team stands out as a unique twist to the traditional formula. Evolution, though a staple in mainline games, takes a backseat here, offering a fresh experience for us veteran trainers.

In Red Rescue Team, your character and your partner will steadily grow stronger, but unlike regular Pokémon, you won’t undergo evolution when you reach the typical level for such transformation. However, as the game progresses, you’ll gain the ability to evolve not just yourself and your partner, but also every new Pokémon that joins your rescue squad.

In the primary Pokemon games, evolution plays a significant role, but it’s less prominent in the Mystery Dungeon series, particularly during the main narrative. Here’s how you can help your Pokemon and those on your rescue squad evolve:

How To Evolve In Red Rescue Team

The initial phase of progress in Red Rescue Team is completing the main storyline and watching the ending sequence. It’s worth noting that the game isn’t overly lengthy, but there’s a wealth of post-game content waiting for you once you’ve advanced. Upon finishing the game, wait until the next day before setting off on your journey. This action will initiate a cutscene with your companion, Caterpie, and Metapod. After the discussion concludes, navigate to Pokemon Square and then head north towards Whiscash Pond.

In a new sequence, you’ll come across an advanced Snubbull, and Alakazam will enlighten you about the concept of evolution. Subsequently, a cave for evolution will materialize at the central stone in Whiscash Pond. This cave can be accessed by only one Pokemon at a time. Following this interaction, return to your residence and venture towards the path in the south that leads to dungeons to initiate another discussion with your partner. During this conversation, they will touch upon the topic of choosing new leaders for the rescue team and enable the feature to place your partner on hold in a Friend Area.

  • Open the menu and select Team, go to your partner’s name, and place them on standby to be alone and able to enter the cave.
  • Evolution requires a Pokemon to be whatever level they need to be to evolve in the mainline series for the cave to work.
  • Pokemon that require items to evolve will still need those items to evolve once entering the cave.

How To Change Party Leaders In Red Rescue Team

Since you’re the leader, it’s straightforward for you to evolve yourself. However, if there’s a specific Pokemon you’d like to make your leader, you should go to their Friend Area and interact with them. From now on, you’ll have the ability to choose them as your leader, which can be done with any of your Pokemon. There are no restrictions, so feel free to switch things up and create your ideal team without having either your Pokemon or partner in your party present.
