Pokemon Releasing Life-Sized Snake Plushes

Summary

  • The Pokemon Company announced huge life-sized plushes of Ekans and Serperior for the Year of the Snake.
  • Plushes are 2.0m and 3.3m with poseable heads, announced for China but could launch worldwide.
  • Price for the plushes is unknown, but they likely won’t be cheap due to their larger size.

The Pokemon Company is unveiling larger-than-life plush toys featuring two snake-type Pokemons, in celebration of the Chinese Year of the Snake.

Over the years, a multitude of Pokemon plush toys have been produced, yet many of them are smaller than their game representations. Smaller Pokemon, such as Joltik, are appropriately small, but larger ones must be miniaturized to fit on retail shelves.

Instead of limiting their offerings to giant Gardevoir plushies for Pokemon enthusiasts, The Pokemon Company has decided to expand their collection further. As revealed by PokeJungle on Twitter/X, The Pokemon Company plans to launch oversized plushes featuring Ekans and Serperior as well.

Ekans & Serperior Are Receiving Lifelike Pokemon Dolls

As for their dimensions, the Ekans plush toy measures approximately 2 meters, whereas the Serperior is noticeably larger at about 3.3 meters. Both figurines feature moveable heads that can be adjusted to various poses. Despite being larger than typical dolls, they would still fit well in most households of enthusiasts worldwide.

These plush toys are presently only planned for release in China, but given the amount of merchandise The Pokemon Company produces annually, there’s a strong possibility that they could become available globally as well.

At this time, neither the prices nor the release dates have been disclosed for the two snake-themed plush toys from Pokemon. Given that larger Pokemon plushies typically come with a higher price tag, it’s safe to assume these won’t be affordable options.

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but feel that Ekans was an obvious choice for this promo. After all, it was one of the original 151 Pokemon hailing from the Kanto region. Its significance in the early days of Pokemon is undeniable!

While Serperior may not be entirely reliable, it certainly has an appealing appearance. It’s possible that this perception is influenced by lingering bitterness, as the broken Celebi and Serperior combination from the Pokemon TCG Pocket remains vivid in fans’ memories. This could make them hesitant to have a reminder of their past defeat in their homes.
