As a dedicated fan of the Pokemon franchise and someone who has spent countless hours playing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet since its release, I have to say that the recent discovery of a one-strike strategy to defeat the Seven-Star Tera Raid boss, Dondozo the Unrivaled, is truly exciting! The strategic use of Miraidon as the main attacker against this massive Water Pokemon has proven to be effective and efficient.

After the debut of Dondozo the Unbeatable, the latest Seven-Star Tera Raid boss in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, some players quickly figured out a method to defeat this watery foe with just one attack. In the world of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the Legendary creature Miraidon became the cornerstone of these players’ strategies, and they even shared videos illustrating how they employed it to bring an end to the battle.

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the large Water-type Pokemon named Dondozo, famously referred to as the Big Catfish Pokemon, makes its debut. With its enormous frame and open mouth, one might expect intelligence from this creature. However, quite the contrary, Dondozo is portrayed as a simple-minded Pokemon that relies on Tatsugiri for hunting. Reflecting this partnership, Dondozo’s signature move, Order Up, is a Dragon-type attack that boosts the user’s stats during Double Battles when a Tatsugiri joins the fray. In contrast, Dondozo the Unrivaled employs moves like Wave Crash, Earthquake, Order Up, Avalanche, Curse, and Yawn instead. Unlike other Seven-Star Tera Raid bosses in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Dondozo chooses to use its regular Ability, Unaware, rather than the hidden one, Water Veil.

Since Dondozo the Unrivaled remains a Water Pokemon even when Terastallized, some Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players have developed a strategy to expose its weaknesses. On the r/PokemonScarletViolet subreddit, some players posted videos of their victories over Dondozo thanks to the Legendary Paradox Pokemon called Miraidon. Though Miraidon adorns the cover of Pokemon Violet, that has not stopped the Electric and Dragon dual-type monster from wreaking havoc in regulated Pokemon competitions. In one video that took five turns, a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player named Flameduck took five turns before dealing a decisive strike against Dondozo the Unrivaled. In the first four turns, Miraidon used Metal Sound twice and Charge once to weaken Dondozo’s defenses and bolster its power.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Players Share Dondozo One-Shot Strategies

After boosting Miraidon’s power with an Attack Cheer, Flameduck employed Electro Drift to deal the final blows, given Electric Pokemon’s effectiveness against Water types such as Dondozo. PlayerGen87 adopted a similar approach without using an Attack Cheer but relied on Metal Sound and Charge instead. Both players maximized Miraidon’s special attack EVs in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and equipped it with a Life Orb to amplify its attacking ability.

In the game “Pokemon Scarlet and Violet,” using the Miraidon strategy effectively requires doing it before Dondozo, the unbeaten one, raises its shield. Therefore, players need to act swiftly to succeed. Given that both Dondozo and Pikachu have already been defeated by experienced trainers, we’ll soon discover what other strategies will emerge in upcoming raids.
