As a seasoned Pokémon Trainer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the new 7-Star Tera raid in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet featuring Mighty Dragonite has truly stirred up excitement among us fans! Having grown up with this iconic creature from the Kanto region, I must admit that I’ve had my fair share of battles against it.
Fans of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet now have a brand-new 7-Star Tera raid to join, starring the well-known Pokemon Dragonite. Many players are eager to learn about its potential weaknesses and effective counters.
Dragonite is a Pokémon originally from the Kanto region, introduced in Generation 1, and it belongs to both Flying and Dragon types. Players can obtain Dragonite in the main game too, but this is an excellent chance to gather useful items and catch a Pokémon with a distinctive feature.
How To Unlock 7-Star Tera Raids In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Unlocking 7-Star Tera raids in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is a tedious process, as players need to first beat the base game and complete the Academy Ace Tournament. This will unlock 5 Star Tera Raids, and players will need to complete around ten of those to unlock 6 and 7-Star Tera Raids. There is no definite way to find 5-Star Tera Raids, and players will need to check each crystal to find them. However, 7-Star Tera Raids have a sparkling effect on the map so players will be able to identify those quite easily.
Unrivaled Dragonite Weakness
Dragonite’s Tera-type is Normal, making it vulnerable only to attacks of the Fighting type and resistant to those of the Ghost type. Additionally, its Normal type is combined with its Dragon and Flying base types, granting it the ability to use type advantage for all three categories. This means it will be particularly effective against Dragon, Fighting, Bug, and Grass types.
Best Solo Counters For Mighty Dragonite
There are a number of great counters players can use against Mighty Dragonite. Here are some of the best ones.
Flutter Mane
Flutter Mane is by far the most popular counter for Dragonite, as players can easily solo Dragonite with the right build. Flutter-Mane’s type matchup ensures that it is immune to Dragon, Fighting, and Normal-type attacks. Players should use a Stellar Tera Flutter Mane with the Air Balloon held item and Modest nature. Now there is some RNG involved with this strategy as if Dragonite ends up using Hurricane on the first turn it can pop the Air Balloon. However, if it doesn’t then players are all set to absolutely obliterate Dragonite. The odds aren’t that bad so, players should be able to get it in a few tries.
After obtaining the moveset consisting of Sunny Day, Calm Mind, Dazzling Gleam, and Stored Power, it’s crucial that players employ these abilities in a specific order. Commence with Sunny Day as it amplifies the power of attacks due to Flutter Mane’s Protosynthesis ability. Following this, keep utilizing Dazzling Gleam for subsequent moves until the battlefield stats are reset. Then, use Calm Mind for several turns to optimize your stats. Lastly, after another Sunny Day, deploy Stored Power to vanquish Mighty Dragonite.
Corviknight
As a seasoned Pokemon trainer with years of battling under my belt, I can confidently say that Corviknight is one of the best choices for taking down a Dragonite in raids. To get started, you’ll want to have a Fighting Tera Type Corviknight equipped with a Shell Bell and Mirror Armor ability.
Orthworm
Orthworm might not be as popular as an option for Tera Raids, but it can be quite effective if built properly. Players will need to use the Shell Bell once again, and the Earth Eater ability gives players a massive edge as it can restore health when Dragonite spams Earthquake. The strategy is quite simple, all one needs to do is use Mud Slap until the stats are reset. Then, one can use Iron Defense to bolster their defensive stats and simply use Body Press until Dragonite gets knocked out.
Can 7-Star Tera Dragonite Be Shiny?
In the current 7-Star Tera Raid, the chance to encounter a shiny version is restricted, making it impossible for players to catch it during this specific event. Nevertheless, you can pursue a shiny Dragonite north of Levincia in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet by engaging in a traditional shiny hunting endeavor.
