A recently released chart reveals how difficult it is to get the rarest cards from the newest set of the Pokemon Trading Card Game. The game’s latest era began earlier this year with the Mega Evolution set, which reintroduced Mega Pokemon and a new, very rare card type called “Mega Hyper Rare.” Now, Pokemon players can see just how challenging it is to find these particularly sought-after cards.
The latest set for the Pokemon Trading Card Game, called Phantasmal Flames, includes many popular cards for both players and collectors. Mega Charizard X is a key feature, with special and ultra-rare versions available. The set also introduces new cards for other Mega Pokemon like Heracross, Diancie, and Lopunny. However, finding the most valuable cards in Phantasmal Flames might require opening a large number of packs.
Pokemon TCG Chart Reveals Phantasmal Flames Pull Rates
A chart from TCGPlayer reveals how often players pull rare cards in the Pokemon TCG‘s Phantasmal Flames expansion. Double Rares are the easiest to find, appearing in about 1 out of 5 packs. Illustration Rares and Ultra Rares are also fairly common, with a 1-in-9 and 1-in-12 chance respectively, meaning you can typically find one or two of each in a booster box. The rarer Special Illustration Rare cards appear only 1 in 80 packs, and the Mega Hyper Rare Charizard is the most difficult to get, appearing in just one out of every 1,260 packs.
- Double Rare: 1/5, 1/48 for specific Double Rares
- Ultra Rare: 1/12, 1/211 for specific Ultra Rares
- Illustration Rare: 1/9, 1/118 for specific Ultra Rares
- Special Illustration Rare: 1/80, 1/400 for specific Special Illustration Rares
- Mega Hyper Rare: 1/1,260
The new Phantasmal Flames card set offers more than just rare and collectible cards. A popular character from the Diamond and Pearl series, Dawn, received a powerful new Supporter card in this set. Due to the huge popularity of Phantasmal Flames and the Pokemon Trading Card Game in general, stores like GameStop and Walmart are now limiting how many cards each customer can buy.
The Pokémon franchise has been very active lately, with several major releases this fall. Last month, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company launched Pokémon Legends: Z-A and announced a new expansion called “Mega Dimension” for December. Pokémon TCG Pocket also marked its first anniversary in late October, introducing Mega Pokémon and special rewards. With all this happening, Pokémon fans have a lot to look forward to!
