Pokemon TCG Confirms Release Date for 30th Anniversary Set

The Pokémon Company announced that the new Pokémon Trading Card Game set, celebrating the game’s 30th anniversary, will be released in Japan. This set is planned to launch globally at the same time.

The popular Pokémon Trading Card Game is celebrating a milestone anniversary with several new releases. The year started strong in January with ‘Ascended Heroes,’ the biggest expansion the game has ever seen. This was followed in late March by ‘Perfect Order,’ a smaller set designed for competitive players. Now, fans have learned the official release date for what many are calling the most anticipated part of the anniversary celebration.

Pokemon TCG Confirms 30th Celebration Set Release Date

  • Releasing September 16 in Japan
  • Worldwide release date not officially confirmed, expected to be a simultaneous release

The Pokémon Company announced that its special 30th Celebration expansion will be released on April 2nd. In Japan, the expansion will launch on September 16th with some unique features. Japanese booster packs will contain six cards instead of the usual five, and every card will be a shiny holofoil. This set will also introduce a brand-new card rarity, and fans can expect to see new cards featuring Pikachu, Mew, and Mewtwo with this special designation. Following the Japanese release, the set will be available worldwide, as previously announced.

Besides the special products for the 30th anniversary of the Pokemon Trading Card Game in September, The Pokemon Company is also hinting at a new Premium Deck Set featuring Espeon and Umbreon. This set will include pre-constructed decks centered around the Eeveelutions. While official details are still limited, it’s likely the featured cards will use a new card rarity being introduced with the 30th Celebration products.

As a longtime Pokémon TCG fan, I’m so excited about the upcoming anniversary celebration! It sounds like they’re bringing back a bunch of classic cards, just like they did with the Celebrations expansion a few years ago. They even showed off some of the reprints during the Pokémon Day presentation – we’re getting Pikachu and Zekrom GX from the Team Up set, Solgaleo GX from the original Sun & Moon set, and the always popular Lugia from Aquapolis! It’s going to be amazing to see these old favorites back in print.
