The venue for the Pokemon Trading Card Game, known as the Hot Wind Arena, has been unveiled, featuring iconic figures from across the series and their companions once more.

The Japanese Battle Partners collection centers around a unique feature in the Pokémon game, known as the Trainer’s Pokémon mechanic. In this system, a specific human character’s name is incorporated into the title of their respective Pokémon, like Zacian belonging to character Hop. A significant characteristic of this mechanism is that the Trainer’s Pokémon can only evolve from one another and not from common Pokémon with regular names.

In the upcoming set, you’ll still find the dual Pokémon mechanism, much like the Trainer’s, as PokeBeach has announced the arrival of Hot Wind Arena on March 14. This set promises even more of these two-Pokémon teams. It is expected to be released in English within the Journey Together collection, which is scheduled for launch on March 28.

Hot Wind Arena Will Unleash Ethan & Cynthia’s Pokemon

Among the cast that has been verified thus far are Misty (the Water-type Gym Leader from Pokémon Red and Blue), Ethan (the main character in Pokémon Gold and Silver), Cynthia (Champion of the Sinnoh region in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl), and Arven (one of the rivals in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet).

Ethan’s collection of Trainer Pokemon consists of Cyndaquil’s evolutionary line, Pichu, Slugma’s evolutionary line, and Ho-Oh (ex). Additionally, he will be showcased on the Ethan’s Adventure Booster card. The Sacred Ash card is an illustration inspired by Ho-Oh.

In the current Pokemon TCG Pocket game’s meta (metagame), Misty is known as a troublesome force. She’ll be teaming up with Psyduck, Magikarp, and Gyarados instead.

In 2024, illustrators who win the Pokémon Trading Card Game Contest will have their artwork showcased within the game collection itself, featuring cards themed around popular characters like Pikachu, Feraligatr, and Toxtricity as examples.

Given the excitement building around the Journey Together Elite Trainer Boxes, it’s probable that these cards will attract scalpers, automated bots, and competitive players in the Costco aisles once they are launched. This could potentially cause difficulties in obtaining these cards at the time of release.
