Pokemon TCG Just Revealed Its Newest Mega Legendary Pokemon Card

The Pokemon Trading Card Game just announced its next Japanese set, and it features the powerful Mega Evolution of Zygarde! This new era of the game is heavily inspired by the recent Pokemon Legends: Z-A, including many Pokemon from that game. Mega Evolution brought back the popular mechanic – absent from the Pokemon TCG since 2016 – with Mega forms for favorites like Gardevoir, Lucario, and Charizard. Now, even more content from Pokemon Legends: Z-A is coming to the card game!

The Pokemon Trading Card Game has recently brought back Mega Evolution with several new sets, featuring powerful Mega Pokemon and popular characters like Lillie, Dawn, and Wally. This era also introduced a new, even rarer type of card – Mega Hyper Rares – which are harder to find than previous rare cards. Now, the game is preparing for its next set in Japan, and it will finally include Mega Zygarde!

The Pokémon Company recently revealed details about the upcoming Munikis Zero set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, which will first be released in Japan. A highlight of the set is Mega Zygarde ex, a powerful Pokémon with attacks that can either limit the damage your opponent deals or potentially inflict a massive 900 damage. Besides Mega Zygarde, the livestream also showcased Meowth ex, which helps players find valuable Supporter cards in their decks. New cards for Binacle and Barbaracle were also previewed, offering strong Energy support for Fighting-type Pokémon strategies. The Munikis Zero expansion will be available in Japan starting January 23rd.

Along with the reveal of new Pokémon for the Munikis Zero expansion, several powerful Trainer cards are coming to the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Two new Supporter cards inspired by Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be added: Naveen lets players discard and redraw their hand, and Tarragon brings back Fighting Pokémon and Energy cards from the discard pile. A new Stadium card based on Lumiose City from Pokémon Legends: Z-A will also be included, allowing either player to put a Basic Pokémon onto their Bench, but ending their turn in the process. Finally, Fighting-type Pokémon will benefit from a new Special Energy card that blocks non-damage effects from opponent’s attacks.

When is Munikis Zero Coming to the English Pokemon TCG?

Although there hasn’t been an official announcement yet, Pokémon fans can anticipate the Munikis Zero card set becoming available in English-speaking countries. This set is expected to be the fourth major expansion released in Japan, following Mega Dream ex, and will likely be a full set due to its ties to the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A game. Considering how Pokémon card sets are typically released worldwide, we can probably expect the English version of Munikis Zero to arrive in late March or early April 2026.
