With each new expansion of the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, diverse powerful Pokemon and deck powerhouses keep surfacing. Each expansion set includes strong EX cards, exclusive ace Pokemon, strategic choices among Trainers/Supports, Items, and unique cards. Regardless if you’re engaging in PvP battles or simply battling to earn event rewards, having a well-constructed deck is crucial.
In July 2025, Lugia ex was one of the standout cards launched in the Sea and Sky Wisdom collection. This card packs a punch with its powerful late-game move, making it a formidable choice for players. It works exceptionally well with other cards introduced in the same set. If you’re planning to construct a deck around Lugia ex in the Pokemon TCG Pocket game, the guide below provides all the necessary information for you.
Best Lugia ex Deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket, Explained
In the Sea and Sky expansion set, Lugia ex is a potent new ace Pokemon with an impressive ability to deal massive damage. It inflicts 180 damage, but this comes at the cost of 3 Energy cards. This makes it a formidable force in the late stages of the game. However, these Energy cards are Water, Lightning, and Fire type, which get discarded when used. Consequently, Ho-Oh ex serves as an excellent backup ace to Lugia ex. While Ho-Oh ex is active, it can employ Phoenix Turbo to attach these three types of Energy to any bench Pokemon – including Lugia ex, which is considered a Basic Pokemon in this context.
In the initial to middle stages of play, both Pichu and Raikou have been incorporated. These Pokémon prove beneficial during the early game as they can aid in delaying the opponent, with Pichu offering an additional function: it can transfer Energy from the Energy Zone to basic benched Pokémon. This attribute allows Pichu to assist in setting up either Ho-Oh’s Phoenix Turbo or gradually preparing Lugia’s first Elemental Burst.
The rest of the deck is filled out with Support/Item cards to ensure this strategy functions efficiently. You can play rather covertly with Raikou by placing it on your bench and then using Phoenix Turbo to add three energy cards to it as well. Elemental Switch is useful for giving Lugia a second set of three Energy cards when the initial set has been discarded, allowing for two consecutive 180 damage attacks, both of which have high knockout potential. Sabrina and Guzma are beneficial for slowing down the game and giving you time to attach Energies. Leaf aids in moving your late-game powerhouses into the Active position, while Giant Cape + Irida increase their survivability once they are active.
This version attempts to simplify the language and make it more conversational while keeping the meaning intact.
