In a new development, the Pokemon TCG Pocket has introduced a fresh booster pack type called “Regular +1”. This unique pack ensures an extra space for the newly incorporated baby Pokemon. Speculation about the upcoming set of Pokemon TCG Pocket, which hints at the presence of newborn creatures, had been circulating even before the official announcement. However, it appears that their inclusion goes beyond initial assumptions.

In the Pokemon TCG Pocket game, booster packs originally came in two varieties: Common and Scarce (often referred to as “God Packs” by players). The main distinction between them is their drop rates. As the term implies, Scarce packs have a significantly greater probability of including hard-to-find cards, whereas Common packs typically produce more common ones.

In the latest addition to the Pokemon TCG Pocket series, titled Wisdom of Sea and Sky, a fresh booster pack type named Regular +1 has been introduced. Unlike other packs which hold five cards, these Regular +1 packs come with six cards. The most significant difference lies in the sixth card, as it focuses on baby Pokemon. Approximately 30% of the time, common baby Pokemon cards will be found, and there’s a 13% chance for full-art versions. Fortunately, acquiring new Regular +1 booster packs isn’t quite as rare as it might seem. It’s also important to mention that the drop rates for the first five slots in Regular +1 packs are identical to those in Regular packs, with the only variation being the final slot.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but speculate about the future sets. It’s uncertain at this point whether Regular +1 packs will reappear, but if they do, it seems reasonable to assume that their sixth slot could house some exceptional card types. One intriguing theory circulating among fans is that the much-anticipated Mega Evolutions from Pokemon TCG Pocket might exclusively appear in these Regular +1 packs. This hypothesis stems from the idea that Mega Evolutions could potentially be limited to a select few cards, similar to baby Pokémon. Therefore, it would make strategic sense for the game to introduce them using the same approach.

For those intrigued, rumors about the Pokemon TCG Pocket suggested that Mega Evolutions might debut in October, possibly as a homage to the launch of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. With this in mind, numerous fans speculate that the introduction of Regular +1 packs could be a prelude to introducing these eagerly awaited creatures. Yet, they may need to keep their eyes peeled until the forthcoming A4a and A4b mini-sets are launched to verify if these assumptions hold true.
