Blastoise is a legendary Pokemon that has been part of the franchise since its beginning in the ’90s. It was showcased as the main character on the cover of the game “Pokemon Blue,” one of the first pairs of Pokemon games to be launched in the Western market. For those who started playing back then, Blastoise is often their first fully evolved starter Pokemon from the original generation, which makes it special for longtime players. Now, mobile gamers have a fantastic chance to include this well-known turtle in their Water-type decks during this new event.

At this unique gathering, participants can try to obtain exclusive Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket cards through limited-time Promo-A Vol. 3 packs. These packs are earned by defeating individual battles against Water-type deck opponents, each featuring characters from Blastoise’s evolutionary family. There are a total of four distinct decks to challenge, with subsequent ones becoming progressively harder as players conquer them. Successfully winning against any of these packs grants an opportunity to unlock one of these promo packs, which then appear in the Gifts box. Players can also attempt to secure additional chances at more promo packs by repeatedly triumphing over any of the four solo-play decks.

The Blastoise found within this promotional pack is not the same as any of the ‘Pokemon TCG Pocket’s’ Ex Blastoise cards. Although it might not have the same strength as other Blastoise cards that players currently possess, its lower risk makes it appealing to use because it only grants an opponent one point for a knockout instead of two. This card has 150 HP and is armed with Hydro Pump, which delivers a base damage of 80 at the cost of two Water energy and one additional energy of any type. However, having two extra Water energy cards attached to Blastoise increases its base power to 140. The packs from Promo-A Vol. 3 also contain special promo cards featuring Eevee, Snivy, Cinccino, and Volcarona.

The happening lines up with the beginning of the Pokemon TCG Pocket New Year Event, which commenced on January 1 and continues until January 7. In this event, certain rewards can be obtained by joining battles, with solo battles against the Blastoise-themed decks contributing towards your total. After successfully completing a battle (and then three more during the New Year Event), players will receive a complimentary five-card Mythical Island pack as a reward. Given that the Blastoise Drop Event lets participants compete up to five times initially, with a 12-hour cooldown timer providing an additional battle chance without using any items, those who win most of their initial battles can quickly claim both free packs in a single session.
