Pokemon TCG Pocket is About to Add an OP Two-Card Combo

Recently, the long-awaited Pokemon TCG Pocket expansion titled “Wisdom of Sea and Sky A4” was officially unveiled a few days ago. This exciting set is expected to hit stores soon, allowing collectors to gather new cards and craft innovative decks.

In the run-up to the release and launch of this expansion, several cards were found leaking online. Even the fact that the expansion would focus on Johto and include baby Pokemon was exposed due to in-store Pichu accessories data mining. Since these leaks have been largely verified as authentic, it’s worth noting that the upcoming Pokemon TCG Pocket release will introduce an overpowered card that complements numerous existing cards exceptionally well. However, this card gains even more strength when combined with a fresh addition.

In most Pokemon TCG Pocket sets, you’ll find cards with effective abilities on their own, but they truly shine when paired with other cards from the same expansion. For instance, Buzzwole Ex combined with Celesteela can result in endless, back-to-back Big Beat uses. In this latest set, Pokemon TCG Pocket is introducing a new Supporter card, Will, inspired by the first Elite Four member from Gen 2, which is fantastic for strategies that rely on coin flips. The set also includes a card that elevates this advantage even further.

Pokemon TCG Pocket’s New Coin-Flip Wisdom of Sea and Sky Card is OP

The strategic decks for Pokemon TCG Pocket aren’t always based on two-card combinations, but some do, like Kiawe paired with Turtonator to deal 90 damage in just turn 2, which often defeats opponents. Moreover, the new Will Supporter ensures a heads result on the same turn for any ability, attack, or Trainer card flip, making it already overpowered. This effect can significantly impact the game meta, but when combined with the new Xatu card, it becomes even more destructive.

Xatu is a Pokémon from Generation 2, making it an excellent choice for the Sea and Sky Wisdom category. Its A4 version boasts 80 HP, but beware as it’s vulnerable to attacks of the Darkness type. It requires only one Energy card to retreat, and with two Psychic Energy, it can attack, draining life rather than dealing direct damage. This attack works by flipping a coin; if heads come up, the opposing active Pokémon’s remaining HP is reduced to 10, regardless of its conditions or statuses. Notably, this effect disregards shields like Stiffen on Cosmoem. What’s more interesting is that the outcome of this coin flip can potentially be manipulated using the new Will Supporter card in the Pokémon TCG Pocket set.

Apart from its abilities, this Psychic Pokemon is particularly effective when combined with Sylveon Ex in the Pokemon TCG Pocket. This partnership helps draw crucial combo elements more frequently while also providing a reliable attacker within the deck. Additionally, Xatu can be paired with Greninja or Grafaiai for added advantages. The Greninja, with its Water Shuriken ability, can inflict 20 damage on opposing Pokemon, while Grafaiai can poison opponents’ benched Pokemon.

How Passive Damage Makes Will + Xatu an OP Combo in Pokemon TCG Pocket

An alternative strategy could involve using cards such as Rocky Helmet and Poison Barb to cause an enemy Pokémon to effectively knock itself out if it attacks, potentially forcing opponents to withdraw their active Pokémon or take no action at all against Xatu because it cannot one-shot KO other Pokémon due to lack of additional attacks. Moreover, a new Typhlosion card in the Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Wisdom of Sea and Sky set has the ability to burn the opposing active Pokémon even from the bench, allowing Xatu to use Life Drain with Will active and ensuring that the opponent’s Pokémon will be KOed at the end of the turn. The possibilities are numerous, and it appears that Will is destined to become a powerful meta card in Pokémon TCG Pocket, but its effectiveness depends on which decks it’s included in.

In other words, while incorporating the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket’s Misty Supporter would certainly be beneficial, it’s important to note that only a single Supporter card may be utilized during each turn, so this particular combination isn’t feasible.
