Pokemon TCG Pocket Makes Bidoof OP

Summary

  • Bidoof in Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s Space-Time Showdown set has a powerful Super Fang attack that halves opponent’s HP.
  • Super Fang is a threat to ex and Stage 2 Pokemon, as it can make them susceptible to an instakill blow.
  • Bidoof’s attack ignores Items, Supporters, and Tool cards, making it even harder to resis.

In the upcoming Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion, as suggested by leaks from the Space-Time Showdown set, one of the least powerful meme Pokémons is expected to receive a significant upgrade.

Among the delightful aspects of the Pokémon Trading Card Game lies its independence from the traditional rules found in the core games. Consequently, even less formidable Pokémon such as Magikarp and Feebas can possess robust cards, owing to their unique abilities or potent attacks.

In a similar vein, there aren’t many Pokémon as meme-worthy as Bidoof, considering its cute beaver character became a sensation during the Generation 4 games. Given that, it’s only fitting for Bidoof to show up in the Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Space-Time Showdown collection, since this series highlights creatures from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

It came as a surprise to many fans that Bidoof turned out to be incredibly powerful. A post on the PTCGP Reddit hints that Bidoof possesses an exceptional attack capable of significantly altering the current metagame.

Bidoof Is Pokemon TCG Pocket’s New Ex Killer

Bidoof’s card features the Super Fang attack, which demands two Energy cards (regardless of their type) to activate. Instead of causing immediate harm, this ability reduces the opponent’s active Pokémon’s current Health Points by half.

Super Fang isn’t very effective against common Pokemon, but more powerful ones like EX and Stage 2 should worry because a single hit from it could leave them vulnerable to an immediate knockout. The fearsome Pokemon such as Gyarados EX, Celebi EX, Mewtwo EX, and Golem should all be cautious.

Since Bidoof’s attacks don’t rely on numerical values, they will bypass Items, Supporters, and the recently introduced Tool cards, making them difficult to counteract effectively.

Of course, Bidoof isn’t invincible. It has a health pool of just 60 points and is vulnerable to attacks from Pokémon with a Fighting type, which makes it easy prey for Hitmonlee’s powerful bench-crushing moves.

Since Bidoof can use Super Fang with any Energy type, it makes the move highly adaptable and likely to appear in many different decks. Once trading is possible in Space-Time Showdown, this small beaver will likely become a key player in competitive play.
