Pokemon TCG Pocket Missed a Major Holiday Opportunity

As a longtime Pokemon Trainer and collector, I have to say that Pokemon TCG Pocket has been a fantastic addition to my mobile gaming collection this year. The variety of events they’ve offered so far, from Wonder Pick to Emblem battles, have kept me engaged and excited to play. However, as someone who cherishes the holiday spirit, I couldn’t help but feel a tinge of disappointment when the game passed up on the opportunity to incorporate special holiday promo packs into their events this season.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but marvel at the consistent flow of exciting events in the Pokemon TCG Pocket since its launch in October 2024. The variety is truly impressive, with offerings like Wonder Pick events where you get free picks, and Emblem events that reward players for engaging in battles. It feels like there’s always something new to enjoy in Pokemon TCG Pocket!

During these occasions, participants could secure a chance to unlock a special, time-limited promotional pack holding one out of five cards by battling AI adversaries. The thrill of drawing a rare Lapras EX or full art Venusaur was a highlight of these events, making them some of the most appealing offerings from Pokemon TCG Pocket so far. Nevertheless, the game has yet to seize the ideal moment to merge the excitement of receiving a bonus promotional pack with the holiday spirit, as Pokemon TCG boasts numerous festive card art designs that could enhance the holiday season experience.

Pokemon TCG Pocket Missed the Chance to Add Special Holiday Promo Packs

Pokemon TCG Has Tons of Holiday-Themed Card Art Available

In the Pokemon TCG Pocket, they can draw from a 25-year collection of captivating card art. Many of the playable cards have sparked nostalgia among players, with some standout pieces being the special holiday-themed promo cards like Neo Revelation’s Jumpluff and Expedition’s Flaaffy. These cards depict the adorable creatures partaking in festive activities, such as constructing a snowman (Jumpluff) or lounging under a Christmas tree (Flaaffy).

In recent times, there’s been a significant trend towards the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) advent calendars, offering delightful holiday-themed card art designs. A much-loved promo from these calendars was the Delibird, hailing from the Sword and Shield: Chilling Reign set, showcasing the bird character laden with Christmas presents. Sadly, these cards haven’t been incorporated into the Pokémon TCG Pocket as of yet, and the ideal moment to introduce them would have undeniably been during this holiday season.

The current event in the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket edition is a daily login celebration, offering players incentives such as Hourglass Packs and extra Mythical Island packs as rewards. Completing event tasks also provides a festive Winter Holiday Frame backdrop.

Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Holiday Events Can Go Bigger in 2025

As Pokemon TCG Pocket is only a few months old, there’s plenty of potential for its development over the next year. A significant factor in this expansion could be the introduction of engaging holiday events. While events centered around specific creatures or game types appear to be common, incorporating the essence of each season with unique themed events would add a festive touch, similar to how other mobile Pokemon titles like Pokemon GO and Pokemon Unite do. These seasonal events could offer promotional cards tailored to the theme, not limiting it to winter holidays such as Christmas, but expanding to include events for Halloween, Lunar New Year, and the Spring Equinox too.

As a gamer, I’m really excited about the Trick or Trade set in Pokemon TCG, offering some terrific Halloween promo cards that would make any collector’s heart race! Plus, the 1st Anniversary Simplified Chinese Collector’s Box has got some cards perfect for a Lunar New Year’s promo event. While the events Pokemon TCG Pocket has hosted so far are hard to find fault with since they give players an easy way to score additional rewards, future events could be even more thrilling if they embraced the popularity of seasonally-themed promo cards to their fullest potential.
