Players of Pokemon TCG Pocket are getting frustrated with certain challenges that require a lot of effort to complete and claim rewards. While new solo battles are added to the game a few times each month, some players feel it’s become too tedious to unlock all the available rewards.
A new event called ‘Drop Event’ launched in Pokemon TCG Pocket at the beginning of 2026. It features four challenging solo battles centered around Electric-type Pokemon, particularly the Mareep family. Players can earn packs of new Promo Cards, including a unique Mareep card, by participating. However, this is the second event in a row where players need to use recently released cards to win all the rewards, and some are voicing their concerns about this pattern.

To earn all the rewards in three of the new solo battles, players need to use cards from the Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s Crimson Blaze expansion in their decks. This set, released on December 17th, is the newest addition to the game and includes 69 regular cards and a total of 103 cards, available through twice-daily pack openings. A limited-time event features battles with Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert levels, each requiring a minimum of two, six, and twelve Crimson Blaze cards in your deck, respectively. This isn’t the first time this has happened; the five Crimson Blaze Step-Up Battles released in December also had similar requirements, needing players to use at least a dozen Crimson Blaze cards at each of the five Expert levels.
A recent trend in the Pokemon TCG Pocket game is causing some players problems. They feel pressured to constantly create new, competitive decks, which takes a lot of time. Since the game launched about 14 months ago, players can earn around 10 cards each day, resulting in a large collection that can be difficult to manage. While the game offers search features and card tags to help, not everyone has the time to consistently build updated decks. Also, players can only store a maximum of 25 decks, and with 10 different Pokemon types to choose from, that limits them to fewer than three decks for each type.

These decks are earned simply by getting a specific card from daily rewards. Because they usually contain many cards from a single set, the newest decks are especially helpful for overcoming this challenge. For instance, the Mega Lopunny EX deck has 15 cards from the Crimson Blaze set, which is enough to meet the requirements for higher-level rewards and gives an advantage against Electric-type decks, unless you need its Starly cards. However, some players hesitate to use these Rental Decks because each one can only be used 10 times, and they might need them for future events in the game.

Others were neutral, as the rewards – a few Wonder or Event Hourglasses – weren’t very appealing, especially since the game gave away a lot of free hourglasses in December. Plus, players can earn new Promo Packs with every win during the event, even without completing the Battle Tasks.
