Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Card Dex Registration Update Will Arrive Next Year

Based on player feedback about the Deluxe Pack: ex Special Booster Pack, the team behind the Pokémon TCG Pocket app is planning a Card Dex Registration update for release next year.

The Pokémon TCG Pocket app recently turned one year old, and the developers marked the occasion with several updates. These included a new way to share cards, improvements to trading, and a boost for Wonder Picks. Now, they’re also changing how the app tracks the cards players collect in the Card Dex.

Cards that Appear in Multiple Booster Packs Will be Registered in the TCG Pocket Card Dex for All Corresponding Packs

Pokémon TCG Pocket announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the Card Dex Registration update won’t arrive until after summer 2026. Many players are disappointed with the long wait for this feature. The developers say the update is designed to make collecting cards more fun. Here’s a look at what’s changing with the Pokémon TCG Pocket Card Dex in 2026:

  • Firstly, whenever a player procures a card that appears in multiple booster packs, that card will be registered in the card dex for all corresponding booster backs. Which means if you receive a Mewtwo ex from a Genetic Apex booster pack, the card dex will register it for both Genetic Apex and Deluxe Pack: ex.
  • Secondly, the cards that players have already obtained, which include any cards collected from the Deluxe Pack, will automatically be registered in every applicable card dex retroactively.
  • Lastly, these changes, along with related UI improvements, will arrive after summer 2026.

We’re excited to give you a quick update about upcoming changes to the card collection feature in Pokémon TCG Pocket. Thanks so much for being a part of this community and for all your feedback! 🙏
