The upcoming modification in the trading system for Pokemon TCG Pocket is set to revolutionize its characteristics, primarily due to the integration of the wishlist feature and significant enhancements. This update, coming alongside Wisdom of Sea and Sky – the newest expansion for Pokemon TCG Pocket, will mark a new era in the game’s evolution.
In the year 2024, Pokemon TCG Pocket surged to become one of the top mobile games following its October debut, amassing more than 10 million downloads within merely two days. Yet, its launch was not flawless; the trading aspect faced considerable backlash due to the introduction of trade tokens. Players contended that these tokens were an undue constraint that deterred frequent trading. After taking player opinions into account, The Pokemon Company decided to scrap trade tokens, announcing a major update for Pokemon TCG Pocket set to roll out on July 29 at 11:00 p.m. PT (July 30 at 2:00 a.m. ET). This much-anticipated update will bring significant improvements and modifications to the trading system.
The update to the Trade function within the Pokemon TCG Pocket game appears set to revolutionize play, offering users a Wishlist feature where they can specify desired trading cards and showcase these selections to other players. In their My Cards screen, Pokemon TCG Pocket gamers can manage their wishlists, with each list accommodating up to 20 cards as confirmed by The Pokemon Company. Players may then select three cards from their wishlists to exhibit on their profiles, providing others with a clear understanding of the particular cards they seek for trading purposes.
Pokemon TCG Pocket July 30 Update Brings Trading Wishlist Feature and Discontinues Trade Tokens for Good
After abolishing Trade Tokens, the trading system within the game will be simplified to facilitate players in acquiring desired cards directly. Following the update, players won’t have to exchange cards anymore to get tokens for trading purposes. Instead, Shinedust will become necessary for certain rarities of cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket, such as three-diamond, four-diamond, and one-star cards. You can gather Shinedust by completing missions within the game, earning achievements, or obtaining duplicate cards. It’s worth mentioning that any leftover Trade Tokens can be swapped for Shinedust or 60-pack Hourglasses after the update is released.
It’s yet unclear what the ultimate impact of the updated Trading system will be, however, the inclusion of the Wishlist feature for trading and elimination of Trade Tokens seem like positive moves. Players can try out these new features with a wealth of fresh cards from the Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion on July 30. This expansion introduces beloved Pokemon originally found in the Johto region, similar to the Pokemon Gold and Silver video games. The Pokemon featured are Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, as well as the Legendary Pokemon Lugia and Ho-Oh.
