Beginning October 1st, two more powerful forms known as Mega Evolutions will debut in the game “Pokemon Unite”. These will be none other than Mega Lucario and Mega Charizard X, ready to enter the battlefield this autumn. Furthermore, “Pokemon Unite” hinted at the introduction of two more Mega Evolutions by the end of 2025, although it kept secret the names of these enigmatic Pokémon.
The news emerged a month following the 4th anniversary celebrations of Pokemon Unite, marked by the introduction of the legendary duo Pokemon, Latios and Latias. While Latios operates as a long-range special attacker, armed with moves like Draco Meteor and Luster Purge, he can also use Levitate to join forces with his teammate, Latias, in mid-air. In contrast, Latias functions as a supportive character at range, empowering her nearby teammate with Dragon Cheer or hindering opponents using Mist Ball. Likewise, she has the ability Levitate that enables her to fly to Latios’ position outside of combat.
Pokemon Unite Adding Two Mega Evolutions This October
To celebrate the October 16 release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Pokemon Unite announced that they will be incorporating additional Mega Evolution forms in future updates. According to the official Pokemon Twitter account, Pokemon Unite will soon introduce Mega Lucario and Mega Charizard X as playable characters throughout October. Mega Lucario will debut on October 3, while Mega Charizard X will become available three weeks later, on October 24. In both upcoming Mega Evolution forms in Pokemon Unite, a Lucarionite and a Charizardite X will be included as fixed held items respectively. The requirement for a specific Mega Stone to activate a Mega Evolution also applies to Mega Mewtwo X and Y. Furthermore, Pokemon Unite hinted that two more Mega Evolutions will appear by the end of 2025, but their identities remain a secret.
- Mega Lucario: Friday, October 3
- Mega Charizard X: Friday, October 24
- Two Unnamed Mega Evolutions: By the end of 2025
Apart from introducing Mega Lucario and Mega Charizard X, Pokemon Unite has more surprises in store. As of September 4th, Pawmot will join the main roster as a versatile character. The upcoming update on September 4th for Pokemon Unite will also bring about a notable change in ranked matches, where Groudon will replace Rayquaza on the Theia Sky Ruins map. Interestingly, Groudon bestows a team bonus when defeated, but this boost can be snatched by opponents, potentially leading to thrilling and unforeseen endings.

Although Mega Mewtwo X and Y have been part of the game since 2023, this hasn’t hindered Pokemon Unite from continually evolving its gameplay dynamics, or meta-game. With Pokemon Legends: Z-A introducing additional Mega Evolutions such as Mega Hawlucha, it is yet to be determined if these new Mega forms will also appear in Pokemon Unite at a later stage.
