As a veteran gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Pokemon Unite has certainly added a fresh twist to the MOBA genre. The introduction of Medals as a cosmetic reward system is a clever way to acknowledge a player’s skill and performance, even if they don’t come with any tangible benefits.
In a fresh take on the beloved franchise, Pokemon Unite offers fans an innovative way to engage with Pokemon. Throughout its history, cooperation and competition have been integral parts of the Pokemon world, and this is further emphasized in Pokemon Unite. Devoted trainers will engage in continuous battles while mastering the new MOBA. As they do so, they’ll be recognized for their skills with medals awarded based on their performance during the match. However, these medals are merely symbols displayed on the results screen. This guide aims to clarify the meaning of all symbols found in Pokemon Unite.
It’s important to mention that Medals in this game are strictly for aesthetic purposes, acting as a visual representation of a trainer’s skill level. Although it would be advantageous if these Medals could grant XP or some other form of reward to speed up leveling up in Pokemon Unite, that is currently not an option. Nevertheless, these Medals can positively impact a player by offering encouragement and indicating their progress as a competitor.
All Medals And Their Meaning In Pokemon Unite
In the game Pokemon Unite, players can acquire various medals depending on their Pokemon’s battle effectiveness. These medals aren’t just given for excelling in a specific role, but also for being exceptional in certain combat areas. Skilled trainers can even collect several medals during one match due to their outstanding performance. Moreover, the MVP of each role might also be honored with unique recognitions.
MVP Score Ranking
Based on the Multi-Purpose Player’s (MVP) score, they may be awarded a medal of a distinct color, depending on their particular role. The MVP Medals are distributed according to these score range categories:
- Gold: 80+ MVP Score
- Silver: 70+ MVP Score
Badge Score Ranking
Much like Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), Badges are ranked based on how often players meet specific criteria related to gameplay mechanics or roles. The rank of a particular Badge is represented by the border surrounding that specific Badge, which appears at the conclusion of the match. Unlike MVP scores, which can only be Silver or Gold, Badges have multiple tiers, such as Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and so on.
- Gold: Denotes the highest count of that particular criteria.
- Silver: The second-highest rank of that criteria.
- Bronze: The third-highest rank of that action or criteria.
Score Badge
Earned by players who have scored the most goals. The more goals a player helps their team to score, the better their Score Badge they can receive at the game’s conclusion.
KO Badge
Those who manage the highest number of “takedowns” can acquire the Knockout (KO) Award. Given that aggressive Pokemon usually deliver more knockouts, it is anticipated that Attacking Pokemon will strive for this specific award during the gameplay.
Assist Badge
Because Pokemon Unite offers a distinctive spin on the MOBA genre, it’s quite common for players using passive Pokemon to experience kill-steals, particularly when a stronger ally executes a timely area-of-effect (AOE) attack and snatches the kill. However, don’t worry, as the player will still receive an Assist credit for the knockout. With enough instances of this happening, players might even earn the Assist Badge, making it an excellent strategy for Speedsters and Supporters.
Defense Badge
In the game of Pokémon, the Defense Badge, also known as the Injury Badge, is given to a Pokémon that has endured the most damage during a battle against other players. Unlike battles with wild Pokémon, this badge only acknowledges fights between trainers. Since it’s earned through survival in long-lasting battles, it’s typically sought after by Defenders.
Recovery Badge
In most RPG and MOBA games, the Support role often goes unnoticed, especially when there are characters capable of dealing massive damage or offering aggressive boosts. However, in the gameplay of Pokemon Unite, this isn’t true. Characters that offer healing can significantly boost a team’s combat effectiveness by taking down enemies at crucial moments, allowing the player’s team to score goals. Players who focus on healing others are awarded the Recovery Badge, making it a highly sought-after badge for Support characters.
Is There A Way To View Career Medal Count?
A Welcome (But Nonexistent) Feature To View Progress
As a seasoned Pokemon Unite Trainer, medals serve as a pretty good indicator of my gaming prowess. However, it’s quite frustrating that I can’t seem to find a way to check the total number of medals I’ve accumulated over my gaming journey.
However, trainers who have climbed up the ranks are more likely to progress quickly to the Great Rank and beyond, as the game continues to introduce new Pokémon with distinct playstyles in various roles, making their journey even swifter.
