Pokemon’s Leaked Legends: Galar Starters Are Already Clear

With the launch of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, the series continues to evolve the action-RPG gameplay first introduced in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Given the success of both games, many fans expect a third installment, and some details are already being predicted. A setting based on the Galar region seems likely, and there are three popular choices for the starter Pokemon in the next Pokemon Legends game.

It’s harder than expected to guess which Pokémon will be starter choices in future Pokémon Legends games. The recent announcement of Pokémon Legends: Z-A included two Pokémon from Generation 2 – Chikorita and Totodile – which was a departure from the usual pattern. However, this makes the choices for the next game pretty obvious: the developers seem to be aiming to complete the circle by featuring the remaining starters from the Johto region. Given that the Galar region is the most likely setting for the next Pokémon Legends title, it makes sense that the starters will follow the same pattern as Legends: Z-A.

All Signs Point to the Next Pokemon Legends Game Heading to Galar

Pokémon Legends: Z-A includes several connections to the Galar region, which is near Kalos – both regions are based on the UK and France, respectively. Players can find some Galarian Pokémon forms in the new game, and characters often talk about Galar’s culture. These details suggest that Galar, first introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield, will be featured more prominently in the future.

Pokemon Legends: Galar Was Recently Leaked

The recent TeraLeak 2.0, which exposed details about Generation 10 of Pokemon, also revealed plans for a new Pokemon Legends game. This leak supports the idea that the next installment, following Legends: Z-A, will be set in the Galar region, but 1,000 years in the past. The game will explore the history of the first Gigantamax Poke Ball. While the starter Pokemon might have unique designs – as previous Legends games have introduced Regional Forms and Mega Evolutions – they could help connect the stories of Arceus, Z-A, and this new title.

The Pokemon Legends Series is Missing Three Obvious Starters

  • Snivy
  • Litten
  • Popplio

If a new Pokemon Legends game were to include starters that haven’t been featured yet, Snivy, Litten, and Popplio would be the most probable choices. The Pokemon Legends games have already included all the starters from Generation 2, two out of three from Generation 5, and just one from Generation 7.

  • Pokemon Legends: Arceus
    • Rowlet (Gen 7)
    • Cyndaquil (Gen 2)
    • Oshawott (Gen 5)
  • Pokemon Legends: Z-A
    • Chikorita (Gen 2)
    • Tepig (Gen 5)
    • Totodile (Gen 2)

To complete the Legends series, Snivy would be the logical choice for the Grass-type starter, as it’s the only Generation 5 starter Pokémon not yet included. With Pokémon Legends: Z-A focusing on the Generation 2 starters, Litten and Popplio naturally fit as the Fire and Water-type choices, joining Rowlet from Legends: Arceus to finish the Generation 7 starter lineup.

With Pokemon Legends: Z-A showing that a Legends game can feature starters from multiple generations, both Litten and Popplio are now possibilities for a Pokemon Legends: Galar game.

Details that have emerged about the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Galar game indicate that Gigantamaxing will be central to the story. This likely means the starter Pokemon will receive new Gigantamax forms, similar to how previous games gave starters Regional Variants or Mega Evolutions. Since these starters haven’t had Gigantamax forms before, they seem like more probable choices than Pokemon like Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise, which have already received G-Max forms.
