A player in Pokemon Pokopia has found a clever way to Rick Roll their friends by using the game’s building tools. It’s amazing how creative Pokopia players are – they’ve already built incredibly detailed things like a Pokemon Center based on real stores and even recreated the Bell Tower from Pokemon Gold and Silver.
Rickrolling is an internet prank that started in 2007 and became hugely popular in 2008, though it still appears online today. It involves tricking someone by disguising a link to Rick Astley’s 1987 song, “Never Gonna Give You Up,” as something else. It can also mean unexpectedly playing the song for someone. The meme became so popular that the official YouTube video for the song reached over a billion views in 2021 and continues to gain views. Now, a player in the game Pokopia has even built a special area dedicated to Rickrolling.
Pokemon Pokopia’s Rick Roll Railway
A Reddit user named Luneli recently shared a fun creation on the Pokopia subreddit. It looks like a normal train track built through a tunnel, but with a surprising twist! Luneli spent a lot of time trying to figure out how the game’s music system worked, but eventually decided to create something else entirely. What they made was a recreation of a popular meme – a ‘Rickroll’ – so every passenger who arrives gets a little surprise. Luneli says they have ‘no regrets’ about their decision!

Several users commented on the game Pokopia, with Sad-Cantaloupe2671 and Luneli both hoping for the option to play with silent tracks. Luneli explained they’d experimented with different methods, such as using certain Pokémon within Pokopia, to improve the experience, but these were the only solutions available at the time. Luneli also expressed gratitude for all the positive feedback and support from fans.
- “This is the greatest thing I’ve seen on the internet” – TheRealSlimKailee
- “Congratulations, you’ve won Pokopia” – GPAnimations
- “I’m losing my absolute sh*t over this” – Miserable-Use-4950
- “Excellent use of free will” – Raid_Zero
But Luneli isn’t stopping here. After GPAnimations’ reaction, Luneli hinted that they’re working on even bigger and better creations, promising more content is coming. It’s safe to guess that means longer, more elaborate, or more impressive Rickrolling loops will soon appear in Pokopia, which is a funny thought considering it’s 2026.
Pokopia’s Creativity is Unlimited
Gamers love to build and create within the worlds they’re given. This has definitely been the case with games like Minecraft and Animal Crossing, and really any game that offers a lot of freedom and creative tools.
It was only a matter of time before someone created a life simulation game based on Pokemon, letting players freely explore a world inspired by the creatures. While it’s unexpected, the fact that the game Luneli includes a Rickroll is surprisingly charming. And building a “Rick Roll Railway” within the game? That’s a brilliant use of player freedom and arguably the best thing on the internet – at least for a little while.
