9. The Player Is Leith Pierre
Has The Head Of Innovation Had A Crisis Of Conscience?
Arguments For:
- Leith Pierre is one of the few characters known to still be alive, as he appears in the spin-off game Project Playtime.
- The characters who recognize the player would also recognize Leith.
Arguments Against:
- Doctor Sawyer says he doesn’t recognize the player in the boss fight, and the doctor would certainly have recognized the Head of Innovation.
- The player seems to have limited knowledge of what is happening and the layout of the factory.
For quite some time, it’s been a common speculation among fans that many characters with uncertain futures are often suggested as the anonymous protagonist. Given his role as the Head of Innovation at Playtime Co., Leith Pierre would likely be familiar to the toys in Playcare.
The crucial points about the protagonist are: In 1995, they were employed at Playtime Co., but failed to report for work on the fateful day when the toys rose against their creators, resulting in mass casualties; a tragedy infamously referred to as “The Hour Of Joy.” More recently, in Chapter 4, Doctor Harley Sawyer doesn’t seem to recognize the player character, whereas he would have undoubtedly recognized Leith Pierre.
8. The Player Is Stella Greyber
Returning To The Scene Of The Crime
Arguments For:
- Stella’s fate and whereabouts are unknown.
- The characters who recognize the player would also recognize Stella.
Argument Against:
- The Doctor would probably recognize Stella too.
From what’s been observed, it seems plausible that Stella’s ambiguous viewpoint towards the Bigger Bodies Initiative aligns with the complex nature of the character, suggested by hints that they were both involved in Playtime Co.’s past events and previously worked there.
It’s clear that the player wasn’t at Playtime Co. during the “Hour of Joy.” The question then arises, why was Stella absent from the site during this time? Given Stella’s significance as a character, any event involving her is likely to be crucial.
7. The Player Is Rich
Workplace Reunion
Arguments For:
- Rich’s concern for the children and low-level employees.
- His demonstrated values in looking out for others.
- His issues with the company might have cause him to leave before the Hour of Joy.
Argument Against:
- Rich would know more about the layout of the factory than the player appears to.
It’s uncertain if Doctor Sawyer would recall Rich, given that his most prominent position within the company has been as the Shipping Supervisor. It’s plausible that their paths wouldn’t have crossed often, since the doctor primarily works in lab environments or deep within the factory, while Rich likely spent his time elsewhere.
It’s plausible that Rich could return to the factory after a decade. His evident sense of justice and tenacity suggest he has the necessary resolve to endure the events portrayed in the series so far. Yet, it’s important to remember there are other interpretations about Rich, such as the theory that he might be Huggy Wuggy in disguise.
6. The Player Is Looking For Rich
Maybe The Player Is Someone Whose Name We Don’t Know Yet
Argument For:
- A lower-level employee would make sense given the characters who recognize the player and those who don’t.
Argument Against:
- Any evidence of someone being invested enough to come looking for Rich could easily be establishing his character as a key figure in the series.
In one of the old VHS tapes discovered in Chapter 4, it appears that Rich is providing guidance to a new employee, much like the advice he received from his supervisor long ago. This suggests that Rich exhibits qualities of mentorship and kindness.
The youthful figure, often called “the kid” by Rich, might be searching for the individual who stood by him during his tenure at Playtime Co. – someone he respected and aspired towards. However, if this kid is seeking out Rich, then we’re left wondering about Rich’s current situation. This theory seems to raise more questions than it provides answers.
5. Stella Is Poppy
The Fate Of A Faithful Employee
Arguments For:
- They have the same voice actor.
- They are two of the very few notable female characters whose stories are still ambiguous.
- Stella says some very strange things about not getting old and not growing up.
Arguments Against:
- Poppy was made in 1950, and Stella worked with Mommy Long-Legs in 1991.
- The Prototype seems to have a potent connection to Poppy, and Stella’s relationships within Playtime Co. were all work-related… to our knowledge.
This theory persists, even against contradictory evidence, because it was introduced in Chapter 1 and continues to linger. However, Nola Klop portraying both Poppy and Stella doesn’t necessarily mean they are the same character, as some voice actors play multiple roles within the series. Thus, this argument is not particularly compelling as proof of their identity being one and the same.
Stella, a fascinating figure in the story, holds a prominent position at work but her backstory and exact role in the overall narrative remain mysterious. It’s possible that she could be Poppy, but if so, there might need to be further intricacies, such as a single toy hosting multiple personalities like Doey, for this theory to hold water.
4. Rich Is The Prototype
Industrial Action
Arguments For:
- Rich’s obvious disdain for Playtime Co.
- Rich’s concern for the children.
- Rich’s demonstrated values in looking out for others.
- Rich’s temper.
Arguments Against:
- Rich’s values are very opposed to Dr. Sawyers, which would make them unlikely to work together.
In the TV show “The Prototype,” the arms bearing human-like bones suggest that its primary villain was once partially human. This series features a character made up of toys and humans who were somehow assimilated into it. It’s worth noting that Playtime Co., the company behind this show, has been known to eliminate or dispose of troublesome employees, and given Rich’s potential for causing trouble, it wouldn’t be surprising if he ended up becoming part of the prototype in some way.
Although The Prototype’s motivation to aid children resembles Rich’s, it’s uncertain if their timelines align properly. Since The Prototype is believed to be one of the earliest successful projects, it seems more likely that Rich worked at Playtime Co. during Elliot Ludwig’s tenure (before 1990), rather than in the years directly preceding the Hour of Joy event in 1995.
3. Elliot Ludwig Is The Prototype And Poppy Is His Daughter
Resurrection And Immortality
Arguments For:
- Elliot Ludwig experienced a death in the family thought to be his daughter. Poppy is thought to be modeled on that daughter.
- The Prototype and Poppy have a history, and The Prototype talks to her like a child.
Arguments Against:
- Poppy asks The Prototype how much he knows about her in Chapter 4. This is a bit weird if he knows she is his daughter.
In a rather unfortunate turn of events, Elliot Ludwig, Playtime Co.’s CEO, passed away mysteriously prior to the Hour of Joy. This circumstance raises questions as to whether he could have been the initial model, or in other words, one of the key components, dubbed ‘The Prototype’. If so, it would mean that Elliot could continue residing in his cherished factory. However, it’s puzzling why he would instigate the toys to revolt and harm their creators, including workers who were unaware of the Bigger Bodies Initiative.
There seems to be some debate about the extent of Ludwig’s knowledge regarding the Bigger Bodies Project. Yet, it has been suggested that he might have undertaken these experiments as a desperate attempt to resurrect his daughter. However, if she was already deceased, one may question how the transition to Poppy could have taken place.
2. It Was All A Dream
Surely Not?!?
Argument For:
- The Red Smoke emitted by CatNap was a known sedative and hallucinogen.
Argument Against:
- It’s hard to find evidence for a catch-all cliché like this, but it would be a terrible waste of a story.
In one version, we could say: One classic plot device in storytelling is when the main character suddenly finds themselves in a peculiar predicament. Here, it might be on a factory floor, set somewhere around 2005 or even earlier. Upon looking around, they discover that their surroundings blend reality with fantasy, creating a surreal dreamscape that delves into their subconscious mind.
In a new perspective: After experiencing a deep insight derived from their dream, the individual undergoes a transformation and lives their life differently thereafter. However, let’s hope it’s not just another cliché, as many fans might find it tiresome. Yet, what if the dreamer turns out to be one of the sleeping children in an unexpected turn of events?
1. Pianosaurus Will Reappear In Chapter 5
F To Pay Respects
Arguments For:
- There are duplicates of most, if not all, toys.
- Blind hope that his character design will not have been in vain.
Arguments Against:
- He got absolutely obliterated by Doey.
- He seems to have been an effective misdirect in the promotional material.
Unfortunately, the Pianosaurus, with his untapped villainous prowess, met an abrupt end when he was swiftly devoured by Doey shortly after players were introduced to him. Forums like Reddit and Wiki are echoing with sorrowful expressions of what might have been for this character.
It looks like they incorporated Pianosaurus into Mob Entertainment’s promotional materials, making it seem unnecessary to discard him so soon. Could we see this charming musical character in Chapter 5 with more positive outcomes? It’s unlikely, but it’s fun to imagine.
