As a diehard fan who has survived countless nights in Harran and battled hordes of infected, I am absolutely thrilled by the possibility of a new Dying Light installment. The hints dropped by Geoff Keighley and the recent trademark registration for ‘Dying Light: The Beast’ have me on the edge of my seat. If Kyle Crain is indeed making a comeback, it would be a delightful twist that could breathe fresh air into the series.
According to a recent tweet from Geoff Keighley, who’s hosting the opening event for Gamescom, it seems that Techland may be preparing to make an official announcement about the next addition to the Dying Light video game franchise.
It also came under fans’ radar recently that the studio has registered a trademark for the title ‘Dying Light: The Beast‘, which perfectly matches the tease posted by Keighley on his official X/Twitter handle.
The video concludes with the phrase ‘The Beast Is On Its Way’. Although the studio hasn’t officially announced anything as of now, all doubts should be addressed during the live stream at Gamescom tomorrow at 11 a.m. Pacific Time (PT), 2 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), or 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).
Audience members have pointed out that the visual and auditory aspects of the trailer bear a striking resemblance to those found in the game, suggesting that this is more than just a coincidence and may indicate an upcoming addition to the series.
Moreover, it’s been uncovered through data mining that there is a substantial amount of content within Dying Light 2 that hasn’t yet been used, potentially intended for release as downloadable content at a later date.
Taking a closer peek at these documents suggests that the character of Kyle Crain may yet be living, and could potentially make a return soon.
In the last sighting, Crain was found in the DLC expansion titled “Dying Light: The Following,” which came out in 2016 for the original game. It’s intriguing to consider how Techland might introduce a fresh ‘beastly’ aspect into the plot using this character, potentially shifting the series from its traditional zombie survival narrative.
2024 has already been a fantastic year for the gaming world, but now, Gamescom is gearing up excitement for what’s approaching next.
Although no official announcements have been made by the major studios, there’s a buzz within the community about potential upcoming titles, including speculation about multi-platform releases like Forza Horizon 5 potentially being available on PlayStation 5.
