Super Sentai is a long-running, classic Japanese superhero show that Power Rangers was originally based on. After more than fifty years, the series has recently ended. Throughout its history, many different Red heroes appeared, some of whom were more popular than others. While some Red heroes were incredibly powerful, others succeeded through determination and inner strength.

While many Super Sentai heroes have similar characters in Power Rangers, their abilities aren’t always identical. The Power Rangers versions often change things beyond just using the same action scenes. Usually, a Red Ranger in Super Sentai is significantly more powerful than their Power Rangers equivalent. However, the shows frequently demonstrate that not all Red Rangers are equally strong.

10. Diago Kiryu Is One of the Physically Strongest Red Senshi in Super Sentai as Kyoryu Red

Taro Momoi plays Don Momotaro, the leader of the unusual Donbrothers team. What makes Donbrothers different from most other superhero shows is that all of its characters are created using computer graphics. While the show is definitely more humorous and lighthearted, the Donbrothers are just as capable and powerful as any other team of heroes.

Don Momotaro, similar to other Red Senshi, is skilled with both guns and swords. What really sets him apart, though, is that he’s from a more comedic version of the series. This allows him to use some surprisingly powerful, and often funny, attacks that wouldn’t be allowed in stricter adaptations. While he doesn’t have a corresponding Power Rangers character, that’s mainly because the Donbrothers series is just so over-the-top and unusual.

Yamato Kazakiri stands out as a unique hero in the Super Sentai series. While he isn’t a master martial artist like some others, he possesses incredibly strong transformation abilities. He can easily shift into several different powerful forms, and even gains access to a fourth, even more potent form when he combines with his teammate, Bud.

Kazakiri can transform into different animals, each with unique abilities that make him a strong fighter. He’s skilled on land, at sea, and in the air, so it’s hard to find a place where he’s weak. While he doesn’t have as many weapons as Rangers who appear later in the story, Kazakiri still has some really powerful animal-based moves.

Takeru Shiba spent his entire life preparing to become the Red Shinkenger. Interestingly, the storylines of Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and Power Rangers Samurai are remarkably alike. Despite being a less popular season, Samurai Sentai Shinkenger is widely praised, and a major reason for this is its main character, Takeru Shiba.

Similar to his work on Power Rangers, Takeru Shiba has a remarkably diverse skillset as a Red Warrior. He’s also a highly skilled swordsman. However, he struggles with self-doubt because he unexpectedly took on the role meant for his sister, often feeling like he doesn’t quite belong. Despite this, he proves himself a worthy and capable leader of the Samurai Shinkengers.

As a huge fan of martial arts and action cinema, I’m really intrigued by Jan Kandou. He’s a seriously skilled fighter, but his backstory is fascinatingly different from the Red Jungle Fury Ranger we know. While that Ranger is just starting out, Kandou was literally raised by tigers – making him a natural fit for the Tiger Spirit! He even manages to master the Shark Spirit later on, which is a cool parallel to what happens with his Power Rangers counterpart, but with a much wilder origin story.

Beyond his already remarkable abilities, Kandou has the power to trap and contain evil beings, instantly making him one of the strongest characters in the story. He can effortlessly seal away almost any villain he’s faced before. While he shows up often throughout the series, his most impressive feats happen in Juken Sentai Gekiranger.

5. Kai Ozu Has Very Real and Potent Magical Abilities as MagiRed

Mahou Sentai Magiranger

Kai Ozu is a remarkably strong Red Ranger, mainly because he can use actual magic. Although he doesn’t have as many different forms as some other Rangers, he utilizes the ones he has very effectively. Later on, he gains another powerful form, changing from MagiRed to Magishine.

Ozu shows up in later Sentai seasons, but never with as big a role as he had in the first series. Interestingly, he’s one of the few heroes who’s managed to defeat a version of the Sentai franchise that came after his own. While Kai isn’t the most popular show in Japan because of its focus on fantasy, it’s still known for having one of the most powerful magic-using rangers in the entire series.

Alata is significantly more powerful than his Power Rangers equivalent, as he’s depicted as a true angel. Being a newer addition based on a Japanese series, he appears in many of the recent seasons. Beyond being an angel, Alata is incredibly strong and has a special, powerful transformation. One of his most notable abilities is the power to perceive the ‘True Essence’ of anything nearby.

This angel can tell when people are being dishonest, understands what they’re planning before they say it, and can accurately foresee future events. He’s also skilled at controlling the wind, often using it to his advantage in battle. While he may not be the most famous of the Red Senshi, his abilities make him a powerful and intimidating fighter.

3. Lucky Has the Galaxies’ Support in Addition to His Frightening Skills as Shi Shi Red

Despite being humble, Lucky, also called ShiShi Red, is incredibly strong. He’s backed by the entire galaxy and even becomes a king! As a warrior, he has a surprisingly large number of transformations, allowing him to adapt to any challenge. Lucky, along with the other Kyurangers, draws power from the constellations, giving them amazing abilities.

Okay, so Lucky is seriously amazing! He leads this HUGE team of heroes and always manages to come out on top. It’s cool that he’s connected to the Legendary Warrior, but he’s also just a naturally skilled fighter. What’s really neat is how his fighting style completely changes when he transforms. Though, honestly, he’s not much without his powers – he really needs them to shine!

2. Gira Husty Is Technically Immortal as the Kuwagata Ohger

Gira Husty is arguably the most powerful character who hasn’t been adapted into a Power Rangers series. He’s practically immortal, unable to be killed through normal means. While there are ways to defeat him, he generally can’t be killed except by the natural process of aging, and he also has an incredible ability to heal.

The Kuwagata Ohger isn’t just incredibly tough – he’s also exceptionally strong. Like other warriors in the series, he eventually becomes a king, but he earns that position through remarkable feats of power. Plus, Husty has a unique look that sets him apart from all the other characters.

1. Captain Marvelous Has the Power of Every Previous Red Senshi as Gokai Red

Captain Marvelous is a unique and compelling character among the senshi. Similar to his American counterpart, he can transform into any previous form of the Red Senshi, giving him incredible potential and making him a fan favorite. However, he’s not a traditional hero. Marvelous is a dedicated pirate who prioritizes gaining fame and wealth above all else.

Since his debut, Marvelous has been in almost every installment of the series. He’s become a central figure, and with good reason. Many fans even believe he’s the best Red Senshi ever. Beyond his own abilities, what’s truly impressive is his ability to tap into the powers of past Senshi and use them in even more inventive ways than the original wielders.
