PRANKER STREAMER ARRESTED IN PHILIPPINES FOR HARASSMENT

Summary

  • Kick streamer Vitaly Zdorovetskiy was arrested in the Philippines for harassing people during a prank stream.
  • Vitaly faces deportation for his actions.
  • The creator’s Kick channel has also been taken down.

In the Philippines, live streamer Vitaly Zdorovetskiy was apprehended following incidents of street harassment during one of his prank broadcasts. This individual, recognized on Kick for his gambling-themed streams (a category disallowed on Twitch), is also famous for creating prank content that has landed him in controversial situations from time to time.

In late March, I embarked on an exciting journey to the Philippines, beginning my adventure on the enchanting island of Boracay. Here, I immersed myself in real-life gaming streams and created engaging content for social media platforms. A highlight of my trip was visiting the Ati tribe, indigenous inhabitants of these islands. Moved by their circumstances, I chose to donate funds to them as a way of giving back – a practice not unfamiliar among Kick and Twitch creators who often extend their support to diverse communities and causes.

My philanthropic act was warmly received, with many praising my efforts to ‘pay it forward’. The remainder of my stay in the Philippines saw me traversing various cities within Metro Manila, continuing to generate content and even attempting a prank stream that, unfortunately, didn’t go as planned.

On April 1st, Vitaly conducted an in-person live stream that disrupted the tranquility of people near a mall in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. A clip that went viral captured him intimidating a woman as if to rob her, followed by him stealing a security guard’s cap. As a result of his actions, Vitaly was apprehended the next day and is now detained at the Bureau of Immigration’s (BI) holding facility, waiting for deportation hearings. BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado made it clear that such harassing or disruptive behavior is not tolerated in our society, and there will be repercussions for individuals who disregard the laws of the country. This incident isn’t unprecedented; content creators like Johnny Somali have faced legal trouble before due to making pranks or disturbing public peace on multiple occasions, particularly by harassing people in South Korea.

Vitaly’s Kick Channel Is Down Following Prank Stream

Beyond the possibility of being expelled from the Philippines, Vitaly currently holds a status as an unwanted foreigner in the country, having engaged in acts that could result in jail time for over a year. Two individuals he harassed during his livestream have also filed baseless complaints against him. Following his contentious stream, it’s unclear whether his Kick channel was taken down due to user reports or platform suspension for violating guidelines on livestreaming, given that such activities should comply with local laws. This could be the reason, as Kick has previously banned Jack Doherty for breaking guidelines on violence, suggesting a strict approach. On the other hand, his YouTube channel with over 10 million subscribers remains active, although his latest video was posted about two weeks ago.

Various broadcasters and content producers have faced severe repercussions due to intentionally creating videos that upset viewers. Meanwhile, some popular figures such as IShowSpeed have covered costs related to fan-caused damage during live broadcasts. This has ignited debates about the security concerns for creators, particularly those engaged in real-life streams, and the individuals participating in seemingly harmless pranks.
