The Alien and Predator series are cornerstones of science fiction and horror cinema, each with a rich history. The initial movie for the Alien series, also titled Alien, hit screens in 1979 under Ridley Scott’s direction. It introduced a lethal extraterrestrial lifeform known as the Xenomorph. This film was so successful that it led to subsequent installments such as Aliens (1986), Alien 3 (1992), Alien: Resurrection (1997), Prometheus (2012), Alien: Covenant (2017), and Alien: Romulus (2024). In a similar vein, the Predator series debuted with its namesake film in 1987, directed by John McTiernan. It revolves around Major Dutch and his specialized military squad being pursued by an advanced alien hunter in the Central American jungle. Similar to its counterpart, it spawned numerous sequels including Predator 2 (1990), Predators (2010), The Predator (2018), and Prey (2022). Interestingly, Predator 2 showcases a Xenomorph skull in its trophy case, hinting at the shared universe. Eventually, moviegoers were treated to the much-anticipated face-off between these iconic creatures: Alien vs. Predator (2004) and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007). The latest trailer for Predator: Badlands suggests another exciting crossover encounter.
20th Century Studios unveiled a sneak peek for “Predator: Badlands” on Wednesday, which showcases an introductory scene in a trophy room featuring an alien head from the “Independence Day” series. These extraterrestrial entities, known as Harvesters, are renowned for their intelligence and advanced technology. They attempted to conquer Earth to exploit its resources, coming dangerously close to wiping out humanity. The trailer also showcases Fanning’s character Thia being bound to a tree, with the Weyland-Yutani logo etched stylishly as ‘W’ and ‘Y’ visible in her eyes. This distinctive emblem is associated with the “Alien” franchise, first appearing in the 1979 “Alien” movie. The Weyland-Yutani logo symbolizes the company’s wide-reaching influence, technological prowess, and corporate control. It seems this insignia also appears on Thia’s suit, leading many to speculate that she may be a Weytani-Yutani android. The trailer’s tagline reads:
In a far-off future, on a distant planet, we find the Predator: Badlands storyline. Here, a young Predator named Schuster-Koloamatangi, shunned by his tribe, forms an unusual bond with Thia (Fanning). Together, they venture forth on a perilous quest to encounter their greatest foe yet.
Killer of Killers, Predator: Badlands is produced by John Davis, Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt, and Brent O’Connor.
The Predator: Badlands Trailer Features Subtle Ties To Numerous Other Sci-Fi Franchises

The movie titled Predator: Badlands has fans buzzing, following the release of its trailer. The appearance of the Weyland-Yutani emblem hints at a potential blend of the Predator and Alien realms. What’s particularly intriguing is that Thia, an android, appears to be an accomplice rather than an adversary for the young predator – a departure from the typical conflict dynamic. This change paves the way for a more captivating narrative with engaging character dynamics. In Predator: Badlands, we may witness Dek’s transformation from outcast to hero and Thia’s metamorphosis into a sympathetic ally. This innovative approach to the series has left many eager to see where this unique partnership will lead.
Predator: Badlands hits theaters on November 7, 2025.
