Project K: League of Legends Card Game Revealed by Riot Games

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must confess that the announcement of Project K, the League of Legends Trading Card Game, has stirred a sense of excitement within me that hasn’t been felt since the dawn of World of Warcraft. The prospect of diving back into the captivating world of Runeterra, this time in card form, is tantalizing to say the least.

Riot Games recently announced a Trading Card Game based on League of Legends, called Project K. In a four-minute video released today, they introduced this game, positioning it as a ‘League IP game that caters to a distinct audience’. It will include familiar settings, characters, and powers taken directly from the League universe.

To The Table

In simpler terms, Project K is a highly anticipated card game by Riot Games, often referred to as the top social Trading Card Game available today. Ideally, it’s meant for group play, but it can also be enjoyed in one-on-one matches.

The team imagines a competitive environment that begins with local teams, gradually growing into international competitions.

In the introduction video, the team said:

Our aim is to distribute cards swiftly to all users. Simultaneously, we strive to provide an exceptional experience from the very start, regardless of location. This includes a competitive environment, as well as cards and accessories tailored to your specific language.

Initially, Project K will debut in China, where Riot Games has already secured a local manufacturer and vendor for its release. Pre-orders for the English version of the launch box set can be expected towards the end of this year.

Certainly, it’s worth noting that the introduction video didn’t delve deeply into gameplay aspects, an anomaly for an upcoming TCG with international plans within a few months. Naturally, this has sparked comparisons to Legends of Runeterra, as certain artistic choices in Project K echo those found in the latter.
