Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that Soulcalibur 3 will be added to the PlayStation Plus Classics library before the end of 2025. Currently, it’s the only confirmed game for November’s new PlayStation Plus lineup, but it’s expected to be available by the end of December.
Following the success of Soul Edge in 1996, Namco released Soulcalibur in 1998, which quickly became a hit in arcades. This innovative 3D fighting game distinguished itself by focusing on weapon-based combat rather than traditional punches and kicks. When Soulcalibur came to the Sega Dreamcast in 1999, its popularity soared, making it the second best-selling game for the console, only surpassed by Sonic Adventure.
Soulcalibur 3 Will Hit PS Plus Premium in 2025
Bandai Namco announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Soulcalibur 3 will be added to the PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog sometime before the end of 2025. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced, fans consider Soulcalibur 3 to be one of the best entries in the Soulcalibur series, and PlayStation Plus subscribers will soon have access to it. The game features over 40 fighters and the weapon-based combat the series is known for. However, Soulcalibur 3 also introduced unique modes like Tales of Souls, a story-driven experience, and Chronicles of the Sword, which combines fighting game action with real-time strategy elements where players command troops on a battlefield.
PlayStation Plus is a subscription service with three levels – Essential, Extra, and Premium – and new games are added every month. The higher the tier you choose, the more games, features, and benefits you receive. For players in North America and Europe, the Premium tier includes a collection of classic PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable games playable on current consoles. If you want to play Soulcalibur 3, you’ll need the highest subscription tier, though it will also be available to purchase separately. This version of Soulcalibur 3 will work on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Many PlayStation Plus subscribers are already thinking about what games they want to see added in November 2025, but it’s uncertain whether Soulcalibur 3 will be one of them. It’s unknown if the game will arrive in November or December. While the official list of November’s games hasn’t been released yet, a store listing suggests Tomb Raider: Anniversary will be available on PS Plus starting November 18th.
