PS Plus is Phasing Out PS4 Support in the New Year
If you’re a PlayStation Plus member hoping to play Skate Story, please be aware that it’s exclusively available on PlayStation 5. There’s no version for the PS4, so players who haven’t upgraded to the PS5 won’t be able to play it. If you’re still using a PS4, upgrading to a PS5 might be a good idea, especially to take full advantage of your PlayStation Plus subscription, as support for the older console is decreasing.
Sony has announced that starting in 2026, PlayStation Plus will shift its focus away from the PS4. While some PS4 games will still be added to the service, the console will no longer be the main priority. To guarantee access to all future PS Plus games in 2026, players will need to own a PlayStation 5.
It’s understandable that Sony is focusing on the future of PlayStation Plus, given how long the PS4 has been out. The continued support for PS Plus on the PS5 is a positive sign, suggesting it will remain available even after the next PlayStation console – likely the PS6 – is released. While Sony hasn’t shared many details about the PS6, it’s currently expected to launch in 2027 or 2028. If that timeline is correct, we might learn more about the new console in the coming year.
