PS Plus Free Games for August 2025 Revealed

For August 2025, Sony has revealed the list of free games for PlayStation Plus Essential. This lineup features a widely recognized survival game, a combat game based on anime, and one of the top-rated soullike games from recent times.

Every month, members who subscribe to PlayStation Plus are given a selection of three to four free games on rotation. In July 2025, this lineup was particularly exciting with the inclusion of big titles like the Blizzard action RPG “Diablo 4” and the SNK fighting game “The King of Fighters 15”, along with indie puzzle platformer “Jusant”. The Extra and Premium offerings for July 2025 were also packed, generating a lot of anticipation for what PS Plus would offer in August. Now, Sony has revealed its plans for the games coming to the Essential tier of PS Plus in August.

In celebration of the PS Plus 15th anniversary wrapping up on August 4, Sony has unveiled a new set of free games that will become available starting from August 5. Subscribers of PS Plus can claim these games, which include “Lies of P”, “DayZ”, and “My Hero One’s Justice 2”. The standout game among the free offerings for August 2025 is “Lies of P”, playable on both PS5 and PS4. Released in 2023, “Lies of P” is a soulslike action RPG that offers a dark, twisted retelling of Pinocchio’s story set in the disease-stricken city of Krat. The game has also been expanded with the “Overture” DLC, released in June 2025 by developer NeoWiz.

For the upcoming August 2025 lineup on PS Plus, two additional free games are included, both designed for the PS4 platform. First is the intense multiplayer survival game, “DayZ,” where as many as 60 players battle to endure in a post-apocalyptic landscape overrun by zombies. Following that is “My Hero One’s Justice 2,” an action-packed 3D fighting game inspired by the popular anime series, “My Hero Academia.” Subscribers will also receive a unique avatar collection featuring characters from famous franchises such as “Cyberpunk 2077,” “Hogwarts Legacy,” “God of War Ragnarok,” and “Twisted Metal” to celebrate the milestone of PS Plus’ 15th anniversary.

Due to the month-long anniversary celebration in July 2025, PS Plus experienced a massive boom. The Essential lineup from last month was packed with big titles, but the additions for both PS Plus Extra and Premium during that same month were particularly impressive. They included highly anticipated games like Cyberpunk 2077, Banishers: Ghost of New Eden, New World: Aeternum, Planet Zoo, Risk of Rain 2, and others, with the day-one release Abiotic Factor also joining the lineup.
