PS Plus Games for July, August 2025 Could be the Gifts that Keep On Giving

The new games for August on PlayStation Plus have been released! For this month’s Essential tier, you can expect to find “DayZ”, “Lies of P”, and “My Hero: One’s Justice 2”. Subscribers have until September 2nd to add these titles to their collection. Although all games are worth playing, “Lies of P” has particularly garnered attention due to its release in 2023. Developed by Neowiz, this dark Gothic retelling of Pinocchio with a strong Soulslike design was praised as an outstanding addition to the genre and received warm welcome from PS members upon announcement.

Prior to “Lies of P” being featured on PlayStation Plus Extra in July, another highly sought-after title, “Cyberpunk 2077”, was also included. These two titles share a common factor that, if Sony decides to implement, could significantly alter the strategy of the service and substantially enhance the allure and attractiveness of games offered on PlayStation Plus, similar to them, in the future.

PlayStation Plus Considering Giving Out Major DLCs for Two of July and August’s Biggest Games Could Be a Winning Move

Cyberpunk 2077 and Lies of P Are Some of PS Plus’ Best Offerings in Recent Memory

The addition of “Lies of P” to August’s PS Plus library was overwhelmingly appreciated by players and subscribers, as this recent, distinctive Soulslike game joining PlayStation Plus was an unexpected yet warmly welcomed decision. Interestingly enough, the title’s first significant DLC, Overture, was released earlier in June. This expansion allowed fans to delve deeper into Krat and introduced them to some extraordinary new bosses, offering a challenging yet rewarding experience that further strengthened the game’s core elements.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that last July, Cyberpunk 2077 found its way onto the PlayStation Plus Extra tier. This exciting addition coincided with the game’s latest unexpected update, version 2.3, which brought even more shine to this masterpiece by introducing additional side missions, vehicles, a new auto-drive feature, an expanded photo mode, and more.

While Cyberpunk 2077’s acclaimed DLC, Phantom Liberty, was initially released in 2023, it continues to be one of the most renowned and highly-rated expansions out there. The intriguing twist is that, with both the base game and this fantastic expansion now at our fingertips, Sony might want to consider extending the offer by adding their equally stellar DLCs to the catalog. This move would not only enhance the overall experience but also provide even more value for PlayStation Plus members like me!

The Phantom Liberty expansion for PlayStation Plus was made available at a reduced price, coinciding with the addition of its main game. It has been announced that DayZ will receive a new DLC in the year 2026.

PlayStation Plus Potentially Including Major DLCs Would Add a Whole New Dimension

Over the past couple of months, PlayStation Plus has introduced some changes. Some of these alterations might be related to Sony marking 15 years of its service by providing extra freebies and a greater number of promotional offers than usual. Moreover, the last two announcements regarding PS Plus’ games arrived earlier than usual – a few hours in July and an entire day ahead in August. While this early announcement could just be a temporary exception for the anniversary celebration, it hints at potential future modifications to the service in a similar fashion.

One point worth noting is that Xbox Game Pass has been perceived as taking the lead in the competition between the two primary subscription services lately, although the difference isn’t as significant as it once was. However, both companies have started to make games that were previously exclusive available on each other’s platforms. For instance, Helldivers 2 is moving to Xbox, and Gears of War: Reloaded will be launching simultaneously on PlayStation on its release day.

Due to the sequential addition of popular games like “Cyberpunk 2077” and “Lies of P” to PS Plus, providing players with their anticipated DLCs next, even if only available on the more extensive Extra or Premium tiers, could significantly boost Sony’s reputation. This move might encourage existing members to upgrade their subscriptions and attract newcomers who are hesitant to join, as they would not want to miss out on these exciting additions.
