PS Plus is Adding One of the Best Games of All Time on December 2

I’m so excited! PlayStation Plus is adding Red Dead Redemption to the Extra tier on December 2nd! For those who don’t know, PlayStation Plus has three different levels. The basic Essential tier gets you a few free games each month. But if you upgrade to Extra, you get access to a huge library of PS4 and PS5 games. And if you really want to go all-out with the Premium tier, you get everything from Extra plus cloud streaming and a ton of classic games from older PlayStation consoles like the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP.

PlayStation Plus adds and removes games from its library every month, just like other subscription services. While some services change things up throughout the month, PlayStation Plus usually follows a consistent schedule. New games and removals typically happen on the same day each month. However, PlayStation Plus sometimes deviates from this pattern to surprise players, and that’s the case this December.

When is Red Dead Redemption Coming to PS Plus Extra?

PlayStation Plus subscribers won’t find out all the new games for December 2025 until mid-next month, but mark December 2nd on your calendars! That’s when the original Red Dead Redemption will be added to the Extra tier, letting Extra and Premium members play a game many consider to be one of the greatest of all time. With its huge open-world, compelling story, and unforgettable characters, Red Dead Redemption is a Rockstar classic and a great addition to the PS Plus library.

Red Dead Redemption will also be available on Netflix.

Red Dead Redemption is Getting an Upgrade

The arrival of Red Dead Redemption on PS Plus Extra on December 2nd is even better news because it’s an enhanced version of the game. This updated Red Dead Redemption will launch on current-generation consoles with improvements for modern displays. Players with a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S can experience the game at 60 frames per second with enhanced graphics, HDR support, and 4K resolution. Switch players will benefit from DLSS, HDR, mouse and keyboard controls, and a smoother 60 FPS experience. Importantly, owners of the original game on PS4, Switch, or Xbox will receive a free upgrade. PS Plus subscribers can play the enhanced version directly through their subscription without needing to worry about playing an older version.

The upgraded Red Dead Redemption also includes the Undead Nightmare expansion.

PlayStation Plus subscribers can look forward to a new game update on November 18th, adding nine titles to the service. Eight games will be available for Extra tier members, and Tomb Raider: Anniversary will be added to the Premium tier. The update also includes Grand Theft Auto 5 for Extra members, meaning Red Dead Redemption (available December 2nd) won’t be the only Rockstar game on PS Plus.
