PlayStation Plus members will lose access to four games in January 2026, as announced in a recent update. PlayStation Plus is updated twice each month: once at the beginning of the month with new free games, and again mid-month to add titles to the Extra and Premium subscription levels.
PlayStation Plus subscribers enjoyed a bonus of five free games in early December, including Killing Floor 3, LEGO Horizon Adventures, Neon White, Synduality: Echo of Ada, and The Outlast Trials. Throughout the month, more games were added for Extra and Premium members. Skate Story was available starting December 8th, followed by Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Cat Quest 3, Granblue Fantasy: Relink, LEGO Horizon Adventures, PAW Patrol: Grand Prix, PAW Patrol World, Planet Coaster 2, and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty on December 16th. Premium subscribers also gained exclusive access to Soulcalibur 3 on December 16th.
That wraps up the big PlayStation Plus updates for 2025, and subscribers are likely wondering what’s coming next year. We don’t yet know which free games will be available in January 2026, or what titles will be added to the Extra and Premium tiers. However, we do know which games are leaving soon, so be sure to play these before they’re gone! On January 20th, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, SD Gundam Battle Alliance, Sayonara Wild Hearts, and Monopoly Plus will be removed from PS Plus Extra and Premium.
List of PS Plus Games Leaving Soon
- Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name
- Monopoly Plus
- Sayonara Wild Hearts
- SD Gundam Battle Alliance
Of all the games leaving PlayStation Plus in January 2026, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is the one players should try first, though it’s best enjoyed with some background knowledge. This game has a particularly powerful story, but it really connects if you’ve played the previous Like a Dragon/Yakuza games. It’s a lot to ask to play the whole series before it’s removed on January 20th, but even without that context, it’s still a worthwhile experience.
Okay, so as a PlayStation Plus subscriber, I’m definitely adding Sayonara Wild Hearts to my list! It’s a rhythm action game that came out in 2019 and everyone was raving about it – it actually won a bunch of awards! It’s not a super long game, which is perfect, and the reviews are fantastic. I’m glad it’s on PS Plus right now because I’ve heard great things and I should easily have time to finish it before it leaves the service.
January 2026 Will Bring Big Changes to PS Plus
In January, several games will be removed from PS Plus, with new ones added. More importantly, the service will shift its focus away from PS4 games. While some PS4 games might still be available, they’ll likely be titles that also work on PS5. If you haven’t upgraded to a PS5 yet and want to fully enjoy your PS Plus subscription in the future, now is a good time to consider doing so.
