PlayStation Plus is having a strong year, particularly with the games offered in late 2025. Following popular choices like *DayZ*, *Lies of P*, and the recent addition of *Stardew Valley*, Sony’s subscription service continues to demonstrate its worth. The October games for PlayStation Plus Essential members have been revealed: *Alan Wake 2*, *Goat Simulator 3*, and *Cocoon* will be available starting October 7th. These announcements came alongside the previously hinted-at State of Play event on September 24th, where Sony showed off eagerly awaited titles like *Marvel’s Wolverine* and *Nioh 3*.
September celebrated 30 years of PlayStation being available in North America and Europe. Sony asked players to share their favorite PlayStation memories online, and selected submissions were featured in a special video commemorating the anniversary.

Alan Wake 2

With October being known for spooky games, PlayStation Plus subscribers might be excited to see a truly excellent horror title added to the lineup. Remedy Entertainment’s 2023 sequel to Alan Wake – a game that originally came out 13 years ago – continues the story of a writer battling a strange, reality-bending force, and represents a fresh start for both the game series and the studio that created it.
Following the events of the first game, Alan Wake 2 introduces FBI agent Saga Anderson, who joins forces with Alan Wake to battle a dark, supernatural force and save the world. This sequel leans more heavily into traditional survival horror gameplay than its predecessor and was a major winner at The Game Awards 2023. It also advances the overarching story of Remedy’s ‘Connected Universe,’ making it a great addition to the PlayStation Plus monthly games.
Remedy Entertainment recently launched *FBC: Firebreak*, a cooperative first-person shooter where players extract items from the game. The studio is also continuing the story of *Control* with the development of *Control 2*.
Cocoon

Cocoon, published by Annapurna and developed by Geometric Interactive, is directed by Jeppe Carlsen – the designer behind acclaimed indie games like *Limbo* and *Inside*. While *Cocoon* offers a more colorful and laid-back experience than those titles, it’s just as immersive and compelling. The game truly shines thanks to its unique puzzles and fascinating premise, challenging players to guide an insect-like creature through intricate, nested alien worlds.
Beyond its clever gameplay, *Cocoon* is visually stunning with a beautiful watercolor aesthetic and features a distinctive soundtrack made entirely with synthesized sounds. It’s a rewarding and reflective experience, and a welcome addition to the selection of relaxing games available with PS Plus.
Goat Simulator 3

The *Goat Simulator* series started as a funny side project at Coffee Stain Studios during a game development event and wasn’t originally meant to be a real game. However, after the developers shared a short video, it quickly became popular online, and players asked for a complete version. *Goat Simulator 3* (which is actually the second game in the series) is known for its deliberately chaotic physics, with unpredictable glitches and bugs being key parts of the experience.
I have to say, playing *Goat Simulator 3* is just a ridiculously fun time! It’s seriously hilarious, and even better when you’re causing chaos with up to three friends. If you’re looking for a game where you can just let loose and be a totally wild animal, this one delivers – and then some! It’s packed with goofy, over-the-top fun.
During its State of Play presentation, Sony revealed some upcoming games for PS Plus Extra and Premium. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered will be available on Extra starting September 26th, coinciding with ‘The Last of Us Day’. Premium subscribers will gain access to classic fighting games Soulcalibur 3 and Tekken 3, plus Tomb Raider Anniversary. The exact release date for these Premium titles hasn’t been announced yet, but they’re expected either in October or shortly after. PS Plus members can also look forward to the previously announced Essential games being added soon.
