In many regions around the world, including South America, Oceania, parts of Asia like Malaysia, China, Singapore, and Thailand, the cost of PlayStation Plus subscriptions is set to rise.
Across South America, there’s been widespread anger on social networks following an increase in subscription prices for PlayStation Plus. This is the second price hike within the past two years. PlayStation has given a somewhat unclear explanation, stating that the rise in costs across all tiers is due to fluctuating global market circumstances.
Based on the latest price adjustments, it appears that Sony aims to match the subscription fees of PlayStation with those offered in the U.S. For instance, a 12-month subscription for PlayStation Plus Extra costs $99.99.
In Brazil, current users will now be charged R$546.90, an increase of 12%, which is equivalent to about $92.67 USD. This global pricing strategy ignores economic factors like differences in buying power and inflation rates among nations.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed some substantial improvements in my subscription tiers, with boosts ranging from 8% to an impressive 21%. It’s no secret that the caliber of games added to our catalog has significantly upped its game recently. Big names like High On Life, Robocop: Rogue City, and yesterday’s announcement of Hogwarts Legacy have certainly caught my eye. To top it off, two exciting titles, Blue Prince (the current indie sensation) and Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, were made available on the service from day one.
As a devoted gamer, I’m eagerly waiting for any updates regarding potential changes in the PS Plus pricing in North America. So far, there’s been no official announcement.
